DESCRIPTION: In an animation, the front door of a townhouse opens, and Nikhil smiles. He has short brown hair and brown eyes and wears a red hooded sweater. Inside the house, his little brother, Jay, also has short brown hair and brown eyes. He wears a purple shirt with blue-green trim.
NIKHIL: Hi, I'm Nikhil.
JAY: And I'm Jay!
[Map rustles, boings, plane whooshes, Appa shouts, Amma laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls down a map showing a small boat in the water off the coast of South India. Amma’s face appears. She has chin-length brown hair with a yellow bow. A plane flies to England, and Appa’s face appears. He has short brown hair and a beard. A heart-shaped outline surrounds them. Amma dances, and Appa holds a cat-shaped mug.
[Song] Here's a little story about where our family's from. It starts in South India with Amma, our mom. She caught a plane to England and met our dad, Appa. She loves to dance, and he makes the best cuppa. Oh. And then we came along. Oh. And this is our song.

DESCRIPTION: Jay bounces with his arms in the air.
JAY: Being loud!
[Chimes, coins rattle, rocket ship whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: They high-five and daydream about riding coins on a carrom board. In outer space, they peer through the window of a rocket ship.
[Song] We both love to dream. We can shoot a carrom pocket. Yeah, or blast off in a rocket. We make the greatest team.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist-bump.
[Needle scratches a record, slide whistle]
NIKHIL: Wait.
JAY: What?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hold a picture of their grandparents, Ammamma and Thatha. Ammamma has short black hair and wears a yellow shirt and a blue saree. Thatha has short white hair and wears a yellow jacket, a white shirt, and eyeglasses on a chain around his neck.
NIKHIL: There's Ammamma and Thatha.
[Jim and Nana exclaim]
DESCRIPTION: Jim and Nana stand behind Nikhil and Jay. Jim has short brown hair and holds a tray of food. He wears a green shirt and brown pants. Nana holds her lollipop traffic sign turned red.
JAY: And Jim and Nana.
NIKHIL: And don't forget Max the cat.
[Max meows, crash, slide whistles]

JAY, AS AMMA: Oh, yes! Jildy, jildy, jildy!
[Nikhil and Jay laugh]
DESCRIPTION: The boys stand and smile at each other.
NANA: Cooey!
[Nikhil and Jay gasp]
DESCRIPTION: Nana pokes her head through the doorway, wearing her safety coat.
NANA: I'm here! Where's my Nana huggle?
[The music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run toward Nana.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Nuggle.
[Tires screech, honking]
DESCRIPTION: Nana holds up her hand, and Nikhil and Jay stop.
NANA: Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Stop right there!
[Boys giggle]
NANA: Now, kiddos! You can go!
[Boys giggle, whistle blares, boys sigh, Max sighs, purrs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hug Nana. Max walks across the tabletop and snuggles Nikhil’s head.
JAY: Nana! Nana!
[Max yowls, boings, eyes rattle]
DESCRIPTION: Max runs away. Nikhil and Jay run to the table and bring Nana their Amma and Appa cardboard tubes, and the googly eyes on the tubes move in circles.
JAY: We made Amma and Appa out of cardboard tubes!
[Musical flourish plays, Nana chuckles]
NANA: Oh, wow! You two can make anything!
[Light music plays]
JAY: We can make anything!
[Light music plays]
NIKHIL: Yeah! Come play with us!
DESCRIPTION: Amma enters the dining room through the patio door.
AMMA: Ah! Nana!
[Nikhil and Jay gasp]
AMMA: Exactly the person I was looking for. Perfect! Can I borrow you outside for a second?
NANA: Oh! Of course, dear.
[Unhappy music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay slump, looking down.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Aw!
NIKHIL: But Nana was going to play with us!
NANA: Don't worry, kiddos. I'll be back in a tick.
[Clattering]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay gather their art supplies from the table.
NIKHIL: Yay!
[Upbeat music plays]
JAY: Let's go play upstairs.
[Tires screech, horn honks]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run toward the stairs and stop.
NANA: Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Stop right there!
[Nikhil and Jay laugh, whooshing, disco music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana dances in the doorway. Nikhil and Jay
NANA: And now, kiddos, you can go!
[Whistle blares, Jay laughs]
NIKHIL: Wahoo!
DESCRIPTION: Nana walks past Amma towards the patio.
AMMA: Huh?
[Boing, rattling]
DESCRIPTION: Amma picks up the Amma cardboard tube and shakes it.
AMMA: Hmm. Nice dress.
[Tires screech, bell dings, Nikhil gasps]
DESCRIPTION: In the foyer, Jay slides to a stop in front of Nana’s lollipop stick at the bottom of the stairs. Behind him, Nikhil stops, carrying the art supplies.
JAY: Whoa!
[Slide whistle]
NIKHIL AND JAY: Nana's lollipop stick!
[Triumphant music notes play, upbeat music plays, boys giggle, run boings]
DESCRIPTION: The lollipop stick gleams. Nikhil and Jay look around, nod to each other, and grab the stick.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yeah!
[Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Max arrives, and Nikhil turns the sign to the red side.
NIKHIL: Whoa! Whoa! Stop right there.
[Horn beeps, Max meows, Jay giggles, disco music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Max sits and watches Jay and Nikhil dance.
JAY: Now, kiddo, you can go!
[Whooshing, whistle blares, Max meows, upbeat music plays, slide whistle, thump, Jay gasps, Max yowls, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jay turns the lollipop sign to the green side. Max rolls her eyes, then walks past the boys and up the stairs. The top of the sign falls on the floor, and Max runs up the stairs. Nikhil and Jay stare at the broken sign open-mouthed and wide-eyed.
[Nikhil and Jay scream, thunder booms]
NIKHIL: Uh, it's okay. Uh, we can fix it.
[Chiming]
JAY: Yeah! We can fix anything!
NIKHIL: Hmm.
[Slide whistle, Jay grunts, Nikhil sighs happily, thump, pop, Nikhil gasps, bell dings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay picks up the broken sign and puts it on top of the pole. It falls, hitting his head, and Nikhil puts it back on top of the pole.
NIKHIL: Uh. Oh!
[Thump, exclamations]
DESCRIPTION: The sign falls to the floor; Nikhil picks it up and places it on the pole. It falls again.
JAY: We break everything.
NIKHIL: Hmm. There's only one person who can help.
[Jay gasps, upbeat music plays, Appa hums]
DESCRIPTION: In his shed, Appa holds a paintbrush.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Appa! Appa! Appa!
APPA: Ah!
[Slide whistle, tapping, Appa groans]
DESCRIPTION: Appa drops the paintbrush on his left foot, then grabs his leg and hops on his right leg.
NIKHIL AND JAY: We need you!
[Boings, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Appa hops, then straightens up and smiles.
APPA: Oh, that's sweet! I need you too!
NIKHIL: No, we need you to help us fix something.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Please!
APPA: Of course, I will.
[Upbeat music notes play, chiming]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist bump.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yes!
APPA: I've got something really important to fix first.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay’s shoulders slump.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Aw!
APPA: And then I'm all yours.
[Nikhil and Jay sigh]
DESCRIPTION: Appa holds up his paint-covered palms. Nikhil and Jay’s shoulders slump lower.
NIKHIL: How long will it take?
[Slide whistles, paint squelches]
DESCRIPTION: Appa rubs his beard, smearing green paint across it.
APPA: Hmm. Hard to tell.
[Nikhil and Jay giggle, upbeat music plays]
APPA: What?
JAY: You've got a smudgy face.
[Paint squelches]
DESCRIPTION: Appa rubs the paint on his beard.
APPA: Did I get it? Is it gone?
[Boys giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil nods.
JAY: Yep, sure.
[Boys laugh, whooshing, the music stops, slide whistle, thump]
DESCRIPTION: The boys run out of the shed. Appa smiles, picks up the paintbrush, and spins it. He drops it on his foot and hops.
APPA: Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Outside, Nikhil and Jay walk across the backyard.
NIKHIL: There's only one thing for it, Jay.
[Tires screech]
JAY: Run?
NIKHIL: No!
DESCRIPTION: Jay covers his eyes.
JAY: Hide?
NIKHIL: No.
JAY: Change our names?
[The music stops]
NIKHIL: No, Jay! We need to tell Nana the terrible news about her stick.
[Nana shouts, Jay gasps, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run to Amma’s shed. Inside, Amma smiles as Nana models a blue and white scarf.
NANA: Wow! I love it!
[Amma chuckles]
AMMA: You could take your jacket off first.
[Slide whistle]
NAN: This? Never!
[Horn honks, Amma chuckles]
DESCRIPTION: Nana holds up her palm.
AMMA: Oh, Nana. What are you like?
[Nana chuckles, upbeat music notes play]
NANA: Oh! It's so snuggly and warm.
[Whooshing, disco music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana spins, then dances across the room.
NANA: Wee-hee! It makes me want to dance! It's so spinny!
[Amma laughs]
AMMA: I'm glad you like it, because I made it for you.
[Nana giggles, gasps, the music stops]
NANA: Oh! What a surprise! Oh! And I love surprises! Thank you!
[Amma exclaims, squeaking]
DESCRIPTION: Nana hugs Amma.
AMMA: Aw! And I love nuggles.
[Nana sighs contentedly, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Outside, Nikhil turns to Jay, and they walk away from the doorway.
NIKHIL: Aw! Did you see Nana's happy face? We can't tell her about her lollipop stick now!
[Boings, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps excitedly.
JAY: Ooh! Ooh! I know! Let's make her a new lollipop stick instead.
NIKHIL: Yes!
[Chiming, triumphant music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay high-five, then stand back-to-back.
NIKHIL: We can make anything!
[Both giggle, jump boing]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil walks, waving his arms and lifting his knees high, and Jay jumps behind him.
JAY: Yay!
[Chiming, energetic music plays, boings, whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay imagines jumping high and bouncing on a giant lollipop sign. He plays a smaller lollipop sign like a guitar.
JAY: Whoo! Whee! Whee! Yeah! Whoo! Wahoo! Yeah! Yee-ha!
[Jay giggles, whooshing, Jay cheers]
DESCRIPTION: Jay bounces up, lands on a flying lollipop stick, and flies into outer space.
JAY: Yeah!
[Boings]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends. In the boys’ bedroom, Jay jumps around the room while Nikhil sits on Jay’s bed and makes notes in his notebook.
JAY: Nana's gonna love her new bouncy...Zoom!
[The music stops, whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay runs across the room with his arms in front of him, then spread wide.
JAY: With its super-fast jets! Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!
NIKHIL: Uh, are you sure that's what Nana would like?
[Tires screech, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay stops in front of Nikhil.
JAY: Hmm. Maybe not. What would Nana like?
[Jay gasps]
JAY: I think I know! Remember, Nana loved the warm and snuggly scarf.
[Boings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay bounces across the room, and Nikhil writes in his notebook.
NIKHIL: Warm and snuggly. Got it!
[Whooshing, boing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay spins past Nikhil, then sits on the bed beside him.
JAY: And she likes spinning around.
NIKHIL: Super spinny. Yep! What else?
JAY: Hmm. And she loves...
JAY SHOUTS: Surprises!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil startles.
NIKHIL: Ah!
[Boing, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay hops off the bed and runs around the room.
NIKHIL: One surprise warm and snuggly super spinny stick coming up!
[Squeaking, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jay holds a blue monster slipper.
JAY: This will make it warm and snuggly!
[Gentle music notes play]
NIKHIL: Hmm. Yes! Um, but how to make it super spinny?
[Upbeat music plays, cheetah roars]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, a cheetah wearing sunglasses runs past Nikhil.
NIKHIL: Cheetahs are fast!
[Roller skates rumble]
DESCRIPTION: The cheetah roller skates past Nikhil.
CHEETAH: Wahoo!
[Roller skates rumble]
DESCRIPTION: The cheetah roller skates past Nikhil, and he twirls on his right leg.
NIKHIL: Cheetahs on roller skates are fast and spinny!
CHEETAH: Wahoo!
[Cheetah roars, whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: The cheetah drives a sports car past Nikhil.
NIKHIL: Cheetahs on roller skates in sports cars are the spinniest of spinny.
[The music stops, thump, whoosh]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends, and Nikhil jumps to his feet and spins.
NIKHIL: Actually, Nana's new stick needs super spinny wheels!
[Dinging]
DESCRIPTION: Jay nods.
JAY: Yeah!
[Whooshing, upbeat music plays, toy rattles, tape screeches, rustling, whooshing, boing, tape rustles, Jay grunts]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil picks up a toy car and pulls tape from a dispenser. He draws a green lollipop sign, and Jay pulls on tape and tapes two cardboard tubes together. Nikhil holds up a taped lollipop sign made of coloured cardboard tubes, and Jay tapes his monster slipper to the green side. Nikhil tapes the car to the bottom of the sign.
NIKHIL: Ah!
NANA: Cooey!
[The music stops, Nikhil gasps, toy thunks]
DESCRIPTION: The toy car falls off the sign as Nana walks up the stairs. Amma walks behind her.
NANA: I'm back!
[Jay and Nikhil gasp, footsteps tap]
DESCRIPTION: Jay’s eye twitches. Nana walks in the hallway, and Amma walks up the stairs.
NANA: Where have you got to, kiddos?
[Jay and Nikhil scream]
JAY: Nana's coming!
[Upbeat music plays]
NIKHIL: Quick! Go, go, go!
[Jay and Nikhil scream, boings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run around their room.
JAY: Panic!
[Nikhil screams, Jay gasps, tape screeches, whooshing, toy clatters]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hold pieces of tape. Nikhil quickly wraps tape around the toy car.
NIKHIL: Uh-oh!
[Slide whistle, tape rustles, Jay grunts, boing, gasps, whooshing, slide whistle, thump, boys gasp, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jay attaches tape to the top of the sign and runs, holding the dispenser. He reaches the end of the tape and flies back to the sign. Tape wraps around the boys and they land, back-to-back, wrapped in tape.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Uh-oh.
[Slide whistles]
DESCRIPTION: Nana and Amma arrive.
AMMA: Nikhil? Jay? What happened?
NIKHIL AND JAY: Uh, surprise?
[Ding]
NANA: Huh?
NIKHIL: Well, the thing is. Right, you see, uh, we broke your stick.
JAY: So, we made you a new one!
[Triumphant music plays, squeak, dings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay smile at Nana. The lollipop sign falls off the cardboard tube pole and bounces off Nikhil’s head. Nikhil and Jay stare at Nana with wide eyes.
MAX: Oh?
[Light music plays, slide whistle, thumps, Max purrs, rustling]
DESCRIPTION: Max tiptoes to the sign and flops down on the slipper taped to the side. She rubs her head against the slipper.
[Sad music plays]
NIKHIL: But it went a bit wrong. Sorry.
NANA: Oh, you two! You didn't break my stick. I did!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
[Triumphant music plays, eyebrow boings]
DESCRIPTION: Appa arrives, carrying Nana’s lollipop stick. He waggles his right eyebrow at Nana.
APPA: Tah-dah! Nothing a bit of Appa magic couldn't fix.
[Nikhil gasps]
NIKHIL: That's the special thing you had to fix.
[Upbeat music plays, Amma giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Appa puts his arm around Amma’s shoulders, then gestures at Nana with both hands.
APPA Yep! Well, you can't have Nana without her lollipop stick, can we? She's a lollipop lady! If she hasn't got a lollipop, she's just a lady.
[Nana and Amma laugh, whistle blares]
DESCRIPTION: Appa gives Nana the lollipop stick.
NANA: Oh! Thanks, love!
JAY: But Nana, how did you break it?
[Light music plays]
NANA: Oh, it's a bit embarrassing, really. But one minute I was doing a disco spin.
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Nana spins and waves the sign, tosses it in the air, and catches it.
NANA: Whee! And the next minute—
[Boing, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Nana puts the pole on the floor, startling Max.
NANA: My lollipop stick's on the floor!
[Adults giggle]
NANA: If you'd come straight to tell me, I'd have told you what happened, and you wouldn't be taped to a cardboard tube!
[Nana chuckles]
JAY: Oh.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at Nana with big, shiny eyes.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Sorry, Nana.
DESCRIPTION: Amma puts her hand over her heart, and Appa wipes a tear from his eye.
AMMA: Aw.
[Appa sniffles]
NANA: Oh, it's okay! And besides…
[Nikhil and Jay gasp]
NANA: I love the stick you made me, and oh, I know exactly how we can use it!
[Whistle blares]
AMMA, APPA, NIKHIL, AND JAY: Yay!
[Slide whistle, whooshing, disco music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Later, in the dining room, Amma and Appa hold mugs beside the table. Nikhil and Jay hold their Appa and Amma crafts. Nana appears in the doorway, holding the lollipop stick the boys made her.
NANA: Hey!
[Nikhil giggles, whistle blares]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil runs to Nana, holding his Appa craft, and she spins the sign from red to green.
NANA: Uh, stop! Uh, go!
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil walks past Nana, and she spins.
NANA: Woo! Wee! Stop!
[Horn honks, whistle blares]
DESCRIPTION: Jay runs to Nana, and she spins the sign. He stops, then runs past her with his Amma craft. Nana disco dances.
NANA: Go! Whee! Yep! This is perfect for my lollipop disco spin!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yay!
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Nana spins and stumbles backwards towards the table.
NANA: Whee! Whoa!
[Slide whistle, whooshing, the music stops, crashing, coins clatter, horn beeps, wobbling]
DESCRIPTION: Nana falls onto a small table, knocking over a carrom board and the coin pieces. Her eyes spin, then she smiles.
NANA: Oh! Oh! I'm okay!
[Max meows]
NANA: Oh?
[Light music plays, slide whistle, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Max walks to Nana and flops down in front of her.
NANA: Oh, Max!
[Max purrs, everyone laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Nana puts her arm around Max and snuggles her.
[Upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: In the dining room, Jay holds a cardboard tube decorated to look like Appa and another decorated to look like Amma. They crouch behind the table.
NIKHIL, AS APPA: Ready for a Appa cuppa!
JAY, AS AMMA: Oh, yes! Jildy, jildy, jildy!
[Nikhil and Jay laugh]
DESCRIPTION: The boys stand and smile at each other.
NANA: Cooey!
[Nikhil and Jay gasp]
DESCRIPTION: Nana pokes her head through the doorway, wearing her safety coat.
NANA: I'm here! Where's my Nana huggle?
[The music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run toward Nana.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Nuggle.
[Tires screech, honking]
DESCRIPTION: Nana holds up her hand, and Nikhil and Jay stop.
NANA: Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Stop right there!
[Boys giggle]
NANA: Now, kiddos! You can go!
[Boys giggle, whistle blares, boys sigh, Max sighs, purrs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hug Nana. Max walks across the tabletop and snuggles Nikhil’s head.
JAY: Nana! Nana!
[Max yowls, boings, eyes rattle]
DESCRIPTION: Max runs away. Nikhil and Jay run to the table and bring Nana their Amma and Appa cardboard tubes, and the googly eyes on the tubes move in circles.
JAY: We made Amma and Appa out of cardboard tubes!
[Musical flourish plays, Nana chuckles]
NANA: Oh, wow! You two can make anything!
[Light music plays]
JAY: We can make anything!
[Light music plays]
NIKHIL: Yeah! Come play with us!
DESCRIPTION: Amma enters the dining room through the patio door.
AMMA: Ah! Nana!
[Nikhil and Jay gasp]
AMMA: Exactly the person I was looking for. Perfect! Can I borrow you outside for a second?
NANA: Oh! Of course, dear.
[Unhappy music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay slump, looking down.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Aw!
NIKHIL: But Nana was going to play with us!
NANA: Don't worry, kiddos. I'll be back in a tick.
[Clattering]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay gather their art supplies from the table.
NIKHIL: Yay!
[Upbeat music plays]
JAY: Let's go play upstairs.
[Tires screech, horn honks]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run toward the stairs and stop.
NANA: Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Stop right there!
[Nikhil and Jay laugh, whooshing, disco music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana dances in the doorway. Nikhil and Jay
NANA: And now, kiddos, you can go!
[Whistle blares, Jay laughs]
NIKHIL: Wahoo!
DESCRIPTION: Nana walks past Amma towards the patio.
AMMA: Huh?
[Boing, rattling]
DESCRIPTION: Amma picks up the Amma cardboard tube and shakes it.
AMMA: Hmm. Nice dress.
[Tires screech, bell dings, Nikhil gasps]
DESCRIPTION: In the foyer, Jay slides to a stop in front of Nana’s lollipop stick at the bottom of the stairs. Behind him, Nikhil stops, carrying the art supplies.
JAY: Whoa!
[Slide whistle]
NIKHIL AND JAY: Nana's lollipop stick!
[Triumphant music notes play, upbeat music plays, boys giggle, run boings]
DESCRIPTION: The lollipop stick gleams. Nikhil and Jay look around, nod to each other, and grab the stick.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yeah!
[Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Max arrives, and Nikhil turns the sign to the red side.
NIKHIL: Whoa! Whoa! Stop right there.
[Horn beeps, Max meows, Jay giggles, disco music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Max sits and watches Jay and Nikhil dance.
JAY: Now, kiddo, you can go!
[Whooshing, whistle blares, Max meows, upbeat music plays, slide whistle, thump, Jay gasps, Max yowls, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jay turns the lollipop sign to the green side. Max rolls her eyes, then walks past the boys and up the stairs. The top of the sign falls on the floor, and Max runs up the stairs. Nikhil and Jay stare at the broken sign open-mouthed and wide-eyed.
[Nikhil and Jay scream, thunder booms]
NIKHIL: Uh, it's okay. Uh, we can fix it.
[Chiming]
JAY: Yeah! We can fix anything!
NIKHIL: Hmm.
[Slide whistle, Jay grunts, Nikhil sighs happily, thump, pop, Nikhil gasps, bell dings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay picks up the broken sign and puts it on top of the pole. It falls, hitting his head, and Nikhil puts it back on top of the pole.
NIKHIL: Uh. Oh!
[Thump, exclamations]
DESCRIPTION: The sign falls to the floor; Nikhil picks it up and places it on the pole. It falls again.
JAY: We break everything.
NIKHIL: Hmm. There's only one person who can help.
[Jay gasps, upbeat music plays, Appa hums]
DESCRIPTION: In his shed, Appa holds a paintbrush.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Appa! Appa! Appa!
APPA: Ah!
[Slide whistle, tapping, Appa groans]
DESCRIPTION: Appa drops the paintbrush on his left foot, then grabs his leg and hops on his right leg.
NIKHIL AND JAY: We need you!
[Boings, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Appa hops, then straightens up and smiles.
APPA: Oh, that's sweet! I need you too!
NIKHIL: No, we need you to help us fix something.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Please!
APPA: Of course, I will.
[Upbeat music notes play, chiming]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist bump.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yes!
APPA: I've got something really important to fix first.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay’s shoulders slump.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Aw!
APPA: And then I'm all yours.
[Nikhil and Jay sigh]
DESCRIPTION: Appa holds up his paint-covered palms. Nikhil and Jay’s shoulders slump lower.
NIKHIL: How long will it take?
[Slide whistles, paint squelches]
DESCRIPTION: Appa rubs his beard, smearing green paint across it.
APPA: Hmm. Hard to tell.
[Nikhil and Jay giggle, upbeat music plays]
APPA: What?
JAY: You've got a smudgy face.
[Paint squelches]
DESCRIPTION: Appa rubs the paint on his beard.
APPA: Did I get it? Is it gone?
[Boys giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil nods.
JAY: Yep, sure.
[Boys laugh, whooshing, the music stops, slide whistle, thump]
DESCRIPTION: The boys run out of the shed. Appa smiles, picks up the paintbrush, and spins it. He drops it on his foot and hops.
APPA: Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Outside, Nikhil and Jay walk across the backyard.
NIKHIL: There's only one thing for it, Jay.
[Tires screech]
JAY: Run?
NIKHIL: No!
DESCRIPTION: Jay covers his eyes.
JAY: Hide?
NIKHIL: No.
JAY: Change our names?
[The music stops]
NIKHIL: No, Jay! We need to tell Nana the terrible news about her stick.
[Nana shouts, Jay gasps, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run to Amma’s shed. Inside, Amma smiles as Nana models a blue and white scarf.
NANA: Wow! I love it!
[Amma chuckles]
AMMA: You could take your jacket off first.
[Slide whistle]
NAN: This? Never!
[Horn honks, Amma chuckles]
DESCRIPTION: Nana holds up her palm.
AMMA: Oh, Nana. What are you like?
[Nana chuckles, upbeat music notes play]
NANA: Oh! It's so snuggly and warm.
[Whooshing, disco music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana spins, then dances across the room.
NANA: Wee-hee! It makes me want to dance! It's so spinny!
[Amma laughs]
AMMA: I'm glad you like it, because I made it for you.
[Nana giggles, gasps, the music stops]
NANA: Oh! What a surprise! Oh! And I love surprises! Thank you!
[Amma exclaims, squeaking]
DESCRIPTION: Nana hugs Amma.
AMMA: Aw! And I love nuggles.
[Nana sighs contentedly, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Outside, Nikhil turns to Jay, and they walk away from the doorway.
NIKHIL: Aw! Did you see Nana's happy face? We can't tell her about her lollipop stick now!
[Boings, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps excitedly.
JAY: Ooh! Ooh! I know! Let's make her a new lollipop stick instead.
NIKHIL: Yes!
[Chiming, triumphant music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay high-five, then stand back-to-back.
NIKHIL: We can make anything!
[Both giggle, jump boing]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil walks, waving his arms and lifting his knees high, and Jay jumps behind him.
JAY: Yay!
[Chiming, energetic music plays, boings, whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay imagines jumping high and bouncing on a giant lollipop sign. He plays a smaller lollipop sign like a guitar.
JAY: Whoo! Whee! Whee! Yeah! Whoo! Wahoo! Yeah! Yee-ha!
[Jay giggles, whooshing, Jay cheers]
DESCRIPTION: Jay bounces up, lands on a flying lollipop stick, and flies into outer space.
JAY: Yeah!
[Boings]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends. In the boys’ bedroom, Jay jumps around the room while Nikhil sits on Jay’s bed and makes notes in his notebook.
JAY: Nana's gonna love her new bouncy...Zoom!
[The music stops, whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay runs across the room with his arms in front of him, then spread wide.
JAY: With its super-fast jets! Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!
NIKHIL: Uh, are you sure that's what Nana would like?
[Tires screech, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay stops in front of Nikhil.
JAY: Hmm. Maybe not. What would Nana like?
[Jay gasps]
JAY: I think I know! Remember, Nana loved the warm and snuggly scarf.
[Boings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay bounces across the room, and Nikhil writes in his notebook.
NIKHIL: Warm and snuggly. Got it!
[Whooshing, boing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay spins past Nikhil, then sits on the bed beside him.
JAY: And she likes spinning around.
NIKHIL: Super spinny. Yep! What else?
JAY: Hmm. And she loves...
JAY SHOUTS: Surprises!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil startles.
NIKHIL: Ah!
[Boing, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay hops off the bed and runs around the room.
NIKHIL: One surprise warm and snuggly super spinny stick coming up!
[Squeaking, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jay holds a blue monster slipper.
JAY: This will make it warm and snuggly!
[Gentle music notes play]
NIKHIL: Hmm. Yes! Um, but how to make it super spinny?
[Upbeat music plays, cheetah roars]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, a cheetah wearing sunglasses runs past Nikhil.
NIKHIL: Cheetahs are fast!
[Roller skates rumble]
DESCRIPTION: The cheetah roller skates past Nikhil.
CHEETAH: Wahoo!
[Roller skates rumble]
DESCRIPTION: The cheetah roller skates past Nikhil, and he twirls on his right leg.
NIKHIL: Cheetahs on roller skates are fast and spinny!
CHEETAH: Wahoo!
[Cheetah roars, whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: The cheetah drives a sports car past Nikhil.
NIKHIL: Cheetahs on roller skates in sports cars are the spinniest of spinny.
[The music stops, thump, whoosh]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends, and Nikhil jumps to his feet and spins.
NIKHIL: Actually, Nana's new stick needs super spinny wheels!
[Dinging]
DESCRIPTION: Jay nods.
JAY: Yeah!
[Whooshing, upbeat music plays, toy rattles, tape screeches, rustling, whooshing, boing, tape rustles, Jay grunts]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil picks up a toy car and pulls tape from a dispenser. He draws a green lollipop sign, and Jay pulls on tape and tapes two cardboard tubes together. Nikhil holds up a taped lollipop sign made of coloured cardboard tubes, and Jay tapes his monster slipper to the green side. Nikhil tapes the car to the bottom of the sign.
NIKHIL: Ah!
NANA: Cooey!
[The music stops, Nikhil gasps, toy thunks]
DESCRIPTION: The toy car falls off the sign as Nana walks up the stairs. Amma walks behind her.
NANA: I'm back!
[Jay and Nikhil gasp, footsteps tap]
DESCRIPTION: Jay’s eye twitches. Nana walks in the hallway, and Amma walks up the stairs.
NANA: Where have you got to, kiddos?
[Jay and Nikhil scream]
JAY: Nana's coming!
[Upbeat music plays]
NIKHIL: Quick! Go, go, go!
[Jay and Nikhil scream, boings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run around their room.
JAY: Panic!
[Nikhil screams, Jay gasps, tape screeches, whooshing, toy clatters]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hold pieces of tape. Nikhil quickly wraps tape around the toy car.
NIKHIL: Uh-oh!
[Slide whistle, tape rustles, Jay grunts, boing, gasps, whooshing, slide whistle, thump, boys gasp, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jay attaches tape to the top of the sign and runs, holding the dispenser. He reaches the end of the tape and flies back to the sign. Tape wraps around the boys and they land, back-to-back, wrapped in tape.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Uh-oh.
[Slide whistles]
DESCRIPTION: Nana and Amma arrive.
AMMA: Nikhil? Jay? What happened?
NIKHIL AND JAY: Uh, surprise?
[Ding]
NANA: Huh?
NIKHIL: Well, the thing is. Right, you see, uh, we broke your stick.
JAY: So, we made you a new one!
[Triumphant music plays, squeak, dings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay smile at Nana. The lollipop sign falls off the cardboard tube pole and bounces off Nikhil’s head. Nikhil and Jay stare at Nana with wide eyes.
MAX: Oh?
[Light music plays, slide whistle, thumps, Max purrs, rustling]
DESCRIPTION: Max tiptoes to the sign and flops down on the slipper taped to the side. She rubs her head against the slipper.
[Sad music plays]
NIKHIL: But it went a bit wrong. Sorry.
NANA: Oh, you two! You didn't break my stick. I did!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
[Triumphant music plays, eyebrow boings]
DESCRIPTION: Appa arrives, carrying Nana’s lollipop stick. He waggles his right eyebrow at Nana.
APPA: Tah-dah! Nothing a bit of Appa magic couldn't fix.
[Nikhil gasps]
NIKHIL: That's the special thing you had to fix.
[Upbeat music plays, Amma giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Appa puts his arm around Amma’s shoulders, then gestures at Nana with both hands.
APPA Yep! Well, you can't have Nana without her lollipop stick, can we? She's a lollipop lady! If she hasn't got a lollipop, she's just a lady.
[Nana and Amma laugh, whistle blares]
DESCRIPTION: Appa gives Nana the lollipop stick.
NANA: Oh! Thanks, love!
JAY: But Nana, how did you break it?
[Light music plays]
NANA: Oh, it's a bit embarrassing, really. But one minute I was doing a disco spin.
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Nana spins and waves the sign, tosses it in the air, and catches it.
NANA: Whee! And the next minute—
[Boing, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Nana puts the pole on the floor, startling Max.
NANA: My lollipop stick's on the floor!
[Adults giggle]
NANA: If you'd come straight to tell me, I'd have told you what happened, and you wouldn't be taped to a cardboard tube!
[Nana chuckles]
JAY: Oh.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at Nana with big, shiny eyes.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Sorry, Nana.
DESCRIPTION: Amma puts her hand over her heart, and Appa wipes a tear from his eye.
AMMA: Aw.
[Appa sniffles]
NANA: Oh, it's okay! And besides…
[Nikhil and Jay gasp]
NANA: I love the stick you made me, and oh, I know exactly how we can use it!
[Whistle blares]
AMMA, APPA, NIKHIL, AND JAY: Yay!
[Slide whistle, whooshing, disco music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Later, in the dining room, Amma and Appa hold mugs beside the table. Nikhil and Jay hold their Appa and Amma crafts. Nana appears in the doorway, holding the lollipop stick the boys made her.
NANA: Hey!
[Nikhil giggles, whistle blares]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil runs to Nana, holding his Appa craft, and she spins the sign from red to green.
NANA: Uh, stop! Uh, go!
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil walks past Nana, and she spins.
NANA: Woo! Wee! Stop!
[Horn honks, whistle blares]
DESCRIPTION: Jay runs to Nana, and she spins the sign. He stops, then runs past her with his Amma craft. Nana disco dances.
NANA: Go! Whee! Yep! This is perfect for my lollipop disco spin!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yay!
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Nana spins and stumbles backwards towards the table.
NANA: Whee! Whoa!
[Slide whistle, whooshing, the music stops, crashing, coins clatter, horn beeps, wobbling]
DESCRIPTION: Nana falls onto a small table, knocking over a carrom board and the coin pieces. Her eyes spin, then she smiles.
NANA: Oh! Oh! I'm okay!
[Max meows]
NANA: Oh?
[Light music plays, slide whistle, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Max walks to Nana and flops down in front of her.
NANA: Oh, Max!
[Max purrs, everyone laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Nana puts her arm around Max and snuggles her.
[Upbeat music plays]
