NIKHIL: Hi, I'm Nikhil.
JAY: And I'm Jay!
[Map rustles, boings, plane whooshes, Appa shouts, Amma laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls down a map showing a small boat in the water off the coast of South India. Amma’s face appears. She has chin-length brown hair with a yellow bow. A plane flies to England, and Appa’s face appears. He has short brown hair and a beard. A heart-shaped outline surrounds them. Amma dances, and Appa holds a cat-shaped mug.
[Song] Here's a little story about where our family's from. It starts in South India with Amma, our mom. She caught a plane to England and met our dad, Appa. She loves to dance, and he makes the best cuppa. Oh. And then we came along. Oh. And this is our song.

[Chimes, coins rattle, rocket ship whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: They high-five and daydream about riding coins on a carrom board. In outer space, they peer through the window of a rocket ship.
[Song] We both love to dream. We can shoot a carrom pocket. Yeah, or blast off in a rocket. We make the greatest team.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist-bump.
[Needle scratches a record, slide whistle]
NIKHIL: Wait.
JAY: What?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hold a picture of their grandparents, Ammamma and Thatha. Ammamma has short black hair and wears a yellow shirt and a blue saree. Thatha has short white hair and wears a yellow jacket, a white shirt, and eyeglasses on a chain around his neck.
NIKHIL: There's Ammamma and Thatha.
[Jim and Nana exclaim]
DESCRIPTION: Jim and Nana stand behind Nikhil and Jay. Jim has short brown hair and holds a tray of food. He wears a green shirt and brown pants. Nana holds her lollipop traffic sign turned red.
JAY: And Jim and Nana.
NIKHIL: And don't forget Max the cat.

[Max vocalizes, tongue slurps]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pets Max’s head, then she licks her paw.
NIKHIL: It's our turn to hide and your turn to find us, Max.
[Boings, Nikhil giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay runs away with his arms spread, and Nikhil follows him.
JAY: Yes! Woo!
[Clattering, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil stops running.
NIKHIL: Huh? Ooh?
[Slide whistle, Max meows, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Max stands on the bench, then jumps on top of the fence beside a gate.
NIKHIL: Hey! Max! Where are you going?
[Max meows, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps off the fence, leaving the yard.
[Nikhil gasps, dramatic music plays]
NIKHIL: Max! Come back!
[Jay gasps, grass rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run across the yard and look over the fence.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Max! Max? Max!
[Bird chirps, wings flap]
DESCRIPTION: A bird takes off from a nearby tree.
[Sad music notes play]
NIKHIL: Oh, no!
DESCRIPTION: In the shed, Amma measures an apron on a dress form mannequin as Jay and Nikhil enter.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Amma! Amma!
JAY: Amma! Max just left in the middle of the game!
[Amma laughs]
AMMA: That's cats for you. Oh! She's probably gone to see her friends from cat yoga or something.
[Cats meow, discordant musical notes play]
NIKHIL AND JAY: What?
JAY: Other friends?
[The music stops]
NIKHIL: We are her best friends.
DESCRIPTION: Jay nods.
JAY: Yeah! We would know if she had other friends, wouldn't we?
AMMA: What can I say? Cats are cats.
NIKHIL WHISPERS: Hmm. Let's ask Appa.
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay nods.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In the kitchen, Appa smiles as he stands over a pot at the stove. He holds a wooden spoon in his left hand.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Appa! Appa! Appa! Appa!
[Tires screech, clattering, Appa gasps, groans, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay and Nikhil run to Appa, and he drops the spoon. Appa grabs his knee and hops.
NIKHIL: Max has gone.
JAY: Amma says she has other friends.
[Appa gasps, party horn blares]
APPA: Max is out of the house? Yes! Perfect!
[The music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at each other.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
APPA: Well, I mean this means we can tidy her stuff.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Oh.
APPA: She never lets me do that when she's around.
[Descending music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: In the foyer, Appa and the boys look at Max’s torn cat bed and food and water beside her dishes.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Ew! Yuck!
NIKHIL: Appa! Max has other friends!
[Appa chuckles]
APPA: Well, she's popular like me. What can I say? She's got the family charm.
[Drumming, chime]
DESCRIPTION: Appa smiles and his teeth gleam.
[Mellow music plays]
JAY: Oh. But we are her friends.
APPA: Well, in that case, you can help me sort out her stuff. If her bed is tidy and her bowl is clean, she'll be back in no time.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Okay!
[Slide whistle, upbeat music plays, rocks clunk, slide whistles, toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil picks up the cat bed and shakes it. Rocks and leaves fall out, and he picks them up. Jay takes a toy caterpillar out of a cat bowl.
[The music stops]
JAY: Uh, does Max eat toy caterpillars?
NIKHIL: Max! Max! We've cleaned your bowl and bed.
[Light music plays]
JAY: Yes! And we can do family yoga now!
NIKHIL: Yeah!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay stretch and pose. Nikhil does the tree pose while Jay stands with his arms stretched and one eye closed.
JAY: Who needs cat yoga?
[Slide whistles, Nikhil and Jay sigh]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look around the room.
JAY: Hmm. Where did Max go?
[Toy squeaks, chime, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Jay imagines sitting in a caterpillar-shaped roller coaster at the top of a track slope. Max walks to him on a platform.
JAY: Huh? Max! There you are!
[Max meows, energetic music plays, rollercoaster whirrs, squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps into the seat in front of Jay, and the rollercoaster moves down the slope. Jay and Max smile as they ride the roller coaster together.
JAY: Yay! Wahoo! Whoosh!
[Jay giggles, rollercoaster whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: The roller coaster does a loop-de-loop on the track.
JAY: Yeah!
[Max meows, Jay giggles]
JAY: Yeah!
[Brakes screech]
DESCRIPTION: The caterpillar rolls off the track and stops at a red sign on a dirt path.
JAY: Hmm.
[Chiming, jumps boing, energetic music continues]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends. In the backyard, Jay runs, holding the toy caterpillar above his head.
JAY: Zoom! Whoosh! Whoosh!
[Slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Jay stops and turns to Nikhil, who stands on a patio.
JAY: Nikhil! We need to do the caterpillar rollercoaster! Then Max will come back.
[The music stops, toy squeaks]
NIKHIL: Caterpillar rollercoaster? What's that?
[Jump boings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps on his left leg.
JAY: I'll show you. Hold on!
[Light music plays, Nikhil giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil stands behind Jay and puts his hands on Jay’s hips.
JAY: Caterpillar rollercoaster!
[Energetic music plays, whooshing, Nikhil giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay runs across the yard with Nikhil behind him.
JAY: Whoosh! Zoom!
[Nikhil laughs, tires screech, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil lets go of Jay and stops, then Jay stops and walks back to him.
JAY: Huh?
NIKHIL: This isn't a game, Jay.
[Toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Jay squeezes the caterpillar toy.
NIKHIL: We're on a very serious mission…
JAY: Huh?
NIKHIL: To get Max back.
JAY: I know!
[Jay sighs, slide whistles, soft music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Jay’s shoulders slump, and he wipes his nose with his hand. Nikhil puts his right hand on Jay’s left shoulder and smiles.
JAY: But how do we get her back?
[Toy squeaks]
NIKHIL: Hmm. We need some clues.
[Jay gasps, upbeat music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Jay smiles and jumps.
JAY: Yes! And where do we find clues?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil puts his hands on his hips.
NIKHIL: Hmm.
JAY: Uh.
NIKHIL: Uh.
[Rustling, pop, upbeat music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil searches in the kangaroo pocket on the front of his hooded sweater and pulls out the rocks and leaves.
NIKHIL: Hmm. Ah-ha!
[Jay gasps, toy squeaks, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Jay gives Nikhil the caterpillar toy.
JAY: Yes!
NIKHIL: Hmm. Can you tell us where Max is?
[Mellow music plays, slurping, leaves rustle, Max meows, zapping]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Nikhil imagines standing beside Max as leaves float in circles around them. Max cleans her paw. The leaves change to rocks.
NIKHIL: Huh? Ooh.
[Toy squeaks, Nikhil gasps, Max meows, Nikhil giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Toy caterpillars float around Nikhil and Max, and hearts appear over Max. Max jumps and walks in place with huge, shiny eyes.
NIKHIL: Yes!
[The music stops]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends, and, in the backyard, Nikhil looks at Jay.
NIKHIL: Actually, we need to look for more caterpillars.
[Toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps excitedly.
JAY: Yay!
[Upbeat music plays, toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay each raise a fist into the air, and Nikhil holds the caterpillar toy on his palm.
NIKHIL: Mission Find Max is go, go, go!
[Jay giggles, whooshing, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Later, Nikhil and Jay search the patio as Appa walks outside, carrying a leaf.
APPA: Just going to nip to the allotment. I've run out of basil.
[Nikhil gasps, majestic music notes play, Jay gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil takes a leaf out of his kangaroo pocket.
NIKHIL: Ah-ha! Basil!
[The music stops, boing]
DESCRIPTION: Amma pokes her head out of her shed.
AMMA: Allotment? Ooh! Wait! Wait! Wait! Hang on!
[Grass rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Amma carries a caterpillar apron to Appa.
AMMA: This is for Mr. Awan.
[Majestic music notes play, toy squeaks, Nikhil and Jay gasp]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay turn and face each other
NIKHIL AND JAY: Caterpillars!
[Upbeat music plays]
AMMA: Yes! Looks great, right? Mr. Awan is always talking about the caterpillars in the allotment.
[Toy squeaks, Nikhil and Jay gasp]
DESCRIPTION: Jay squeezes the caterpillar toy, then he and Nikhil nod at each other.
JAY: The clues are telling us...
NIKHIL: Max must be in the allotment…
[Jay gasps]
NIKHIL: With caterpillars and basil leaves.
JAY: Appa, can we come to the allotment with you? Please!
APPA: Sure! Why not. Would you keep an eye on my soup, love?
AMMA: Nope!
APPA: Huh?
[Boing]
AMMA: I'll keep both my eyes on it.
[Everyone laughs, whoosh, mellow music plays, basil rustles, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: At the allotment, Appa kneels beside a planter and picks basil leaves. Nikhil and Jay search in the bushes and behind a shed.
NIKHIL: Max! Where are you?
[Toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: The caterpillar toy bounces on Jay’s head.
JAY: Max!
NIKHIL: Max?
[Boings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay walk to Appa.
JAY: Your best friends are here.
[Basil rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Appa stands and shakes the basil leaves he carries.
APPA: I've got the basil.
[Boys gasp]
APPA: Right! Apron time for Mr. Awan. Jaldi! Jaldi!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay follow Appa to a shed door. They stop and look at a sign featuring a person shushing with their finger in front of their mouth, and an open eye.
APPA: Ooh! He's filming for his channel.
NIKHIL: But what about Max?
[Appa shushes]
DESCRIPTION: Jay arrives beside Nikhil.
JAY: Max!
[Nikhil shushes, toy squeaks, Jay shushes, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Jay turns and shushes the empty space beside him.
JAY: Huh?
[Grass rustles, Nikhil and Jay gasp]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay peer into the shed through a window.
APPA: Huh?
[Appa chuckles, boys shush]
DESCRIPTION: Appa look through the window.
APPA: Oh!
[Upbeat music plays, Mr. Awan murmurs, Max meows, slide whistles, whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: In the shed, Max sits on a worktable beside a microphone. Mr. Awan stands behind his smartphone on a tripod and gives Max a thumbs up. Max poses, then falls onto her back, smiling. She springs to her feet, stands on two legs, crosses her front legs, and winks at the camera. Mr. Awan steps between the worktable and the camera.
MR. AWAN: And that's it for today, people! Big thanks to my special guest, Max the cat! Until next time, laters, potatoes!
DESCRIPTION: Jay and Nikhil watch through the window.
JAY: Max is on Mr. Awan's channel?
NIKHIL: Come on, Jay.
[Squeak]

MR. AWAN: Oh! Thank your mum for me. I love caterpillars even if my lettuces don't. Caterpillars are the best.
[Whoosh, Jay giggles, toy squeaks, Max meows, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jay takes the caterpillar toy out of his pocket, and Max pounces at it. She misses and sits beside him.
JAY: I think Max agrees.
[Nikhil and Jay laugh, toy squeaks, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Max grabs the toy and walks away, carrying it in her mouth. Mr. Awan picks up his smartphone.
MR. AWAN: Hey! That's my top charity shop find. Max and I made a whole video about it. You guys should check it out.
[Max meows, boys gasp, light music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Max walks to Mr. Awan.
JAY: Huh?
[Max purrs, mellow music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan smiles as Max rubs against his leg.
NIKHIL: Mr. Awan, are you Max's new best friend?

DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan kneels and pets Max.
MR. AWAN: She's awesome company and a big hit on my channel, but her bestest friends will always be you.

DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps forward and stands beside Nikhil.

APPA: Right! Best get back to my soup.
JAY: Max! Are you coming back with us?

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil smiles at Max. In the doorway, she looks back at the boys, then leaves.
JAY: Aw.

DESCRIPTION: Appa puts his hands on Jay and Nikhil’s shoulders.
APPA: Hey. Max will be back when she's ready, Jay. Come on.
NIKHIL: Maybe we can do your caterpillar rollercoaster back home.
[Upbeat music plays, Mr. Awan laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil puts his hands on Appa’s hips, and Jay puts his hands on Nikhil’s hips. Mr. Awan watches them leave the shed.
JAY: Yeah! Let's go! Whee!
DESCRIPTION: At home, Amma stands by the stove as Appa, Nikhil, and Jay arrive.
JAY: Whee!
APPA AND NIKHIL: Whoosh!
[Amma laughs, the music stops]
AMMA: You're back! Oh! Did Mr. Awan like the apron?
NIKHIL: He loved it, and we found Max!
[Upbeat music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil hugs Jay against his side.
[Descending music notes play, squeak]
JAY: But she's still at the allotment.
DESCRIPTION: Amma smiles and points.
AMMA: Really? Then who is that?
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?

DESCRIPTION: Max arrives, carrying the caterpillar toy. She drops it on a doormat as she enters the dining room.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Max! You're back!
[Max meows, the music stops]
JAY: Yay! The caterpillar rollercoaster worked, Nikhil!
NIKHIL: Yeah!
[Boys giggle, upbeat music plays, hearts pop, chiming]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run to Max and hug her. Pink and purple hearts appear around them.

[Max purrs, boys sigh contentedly, Max meows, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Max leaps away from the boys. She runs to her cat bed, jumps in, circles, kneads it, then lies down.
NIKHIL: Even though Max has got other friends.
JAY: And goes to cat yoga and Mr. Awan's shed.
NIKHIL: She's still our Max.
[Nikhil and Jay sigh contentedly, Appa and Amma laugh]
NIKHIL AND JAY: Ooh!
[Parents laugh, thump, Nikhil exclaims]
DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Amma and Appa sit on the sofa and watch the tablet screen. Nikhil and Jay run in, Nikhil stops in front of the tablet, and Jay bumps into him.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Ooh!
[Max meows, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: On the tablet screen, Max poses, and Mr. Awan pushes a basket of toys towards her.
MR. AWAN: Yo! Max! Can you spot the caterpillar?
[Rustling, slide whistles, cheering]
DESCRIPTION: Max knocks toys out of the basket, then picks up the caterpillar toy in her mouth. Max bows.
MR. AWAN: Boom! She's done it again! This is what she does! Max the cat, everybody! Let's show the toy to our viewers, Max.
[Slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan tugs on the toy, and Max holds it in her mouth.
MR. AWAN: Max? Max! Max!
[Mr. Awan shouts, crash, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Max lets go of the toy, and Mr. Awan falls backwards. He holds up his hand and gives a thumbs-up.
MR. AWAN: Oh, Maxy.
[Slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps onto the toy basket and wiggles her bottom as she peers at her caterpillar toy on a nearby carrom board.
MR. AWAN: Hey! Max! No!
[Clattering]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps on the carrom board and knocks it down.
MR. AWAN: Oh!
[Nikhil, Jay, Appa, and Amma laugh, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: The video ends. In the living room, the family laughs. In her cat bed, Max smiles and winks.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pets Max’s head, then she licks her paw.
NIKHIL: It's our turn to hide and your turn to find us, Max.
[Boings, Nikhil giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay runs away with his arms spread, and Nikhil follows him.
JAY: Yes! Woo!
[Clattering, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil stops running.
NIKHIL: Huh? Ooh?
[Slide whistle, Max meows, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Max stands on the bench, then jumps on top of the fence beside a gate.
NIKHIL: Hey! Max! Where are you going?
[Max meows, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps off the fence, leaving the yard.
[Nikhil gasps, dramatic music plays]
NIKHIL: Max! Come back!
[Jay gasps, grass rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run across the yard and look over the fence.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Max! Max? Max!
[Bird chirps, wings flap]
DESCRIPTION: A bird takes off from a nearby tree.
[Sad music notes play]
NIKHIL: Oh, no!
DESCRIPTION: In the shed, Amma measures an apron on a dress form mannequin as Jay and Nikhil enter.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Amma! Amma!
JAY: Amma! Max just left in the middle of the game!
[Amma laughs]
AMMA: That's cats for you. Oh! She's probably gone to see her friends from cat yoga or something.
[Cats meow, discordant musical notes play]
NIKHIL AND JAY: What?
JAY: Other friends?
[The music stops]
NIKHIL: We are her best friends.
DESCRIPTION: Jay nods.
JAY: Yeah! We would know if she had other friends, wouldn't we?
AMMA: What can I say? Cats are cats.
NIKHIL WHISPERS: Hmm. Let's ask Appa.
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay nods.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In the kitchen, Appa smiles as he stands over a pot at the stove. He holds a wooden spoon in his left hand.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Appa! Appa! Appa! Appa!
[Tires screech, clattering, Appa gasps, groans, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay and Nikhil run to Appa, and he drops the spoon. Appa grabs his knee and hops.
NIKHIL: Max has gone.
JAY: Amma says she has other friends.
[Appa gasps, party horn blares]
APPA: Max is out of the house? Yes! Perfect!
[The music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at each other.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
APPA: Well, I mean this means we can tidy her stuff.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Oh.
APPA: She never lets me do that when she's around.
[Descending music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: In the foyer, Appa and the boys look at Max’s torn cat bed and food and water beside her dishes.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Ew! Yuck!
NIKHIL: Appa! Max has other friends!
[Appa chuckles]
APPA: Well, she's popular like me. What can I say? She's got the family charm.
[Drumming, chime]
DESCRIPTION: Appa smiles and his teeth gleam.
[Mellow music plays]
JAY: Oh. But we are her friends.
APPA: Well, in that case, you can help me sort out her stuff. If her bed is tidy and her bowl is clean, she'll be back in no time.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Okay!
[Slide whistle, upbeat music plays, rocks clunk, slide whistles, toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil picks up the cat bed and shakes it. Rocks and leaves fall out, and he picks them up. Jay takes a toy caterpillar out of a cat bowl.
[The music stops]
JAY: Uh, does Max eat toy caterpillars?
NIKHIL: Max! Max! We've cleaned your bowl and bed.
[Light music plays]
JAY: Yes! And we can do family yoga now!
NIKHIL: Yeah!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay stretch and pose. Nikhil does the tree pose while Jay stands with his arms stretched and one eye closed.
JAY: Who needs cat yoga?
[Slide whistles, Nikhil and Jay sigh]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look around the room.
JAY: Hmm. Where did Max go?
[Toy squeaks, chime, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Jay imagines sitting in a caterpillar-shaped roller coaster at the top of a track slope. Max walks to him on a platform.
JAY: Huh? Max! There you are!
[Max meows, energetic music plays, rollercoaster whirrs, squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps into the seat in front of Jay, and the rollercoaster moves down the slope. Jay and Max smile as they ride the roller coaster together.
JAY: Yay! Wahoo! Whoosh!
[Jay giggles, rollercoaster whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: The roller coaster does a loop-de-loop on the track.
JAY: Yeah!
[Max meows, Jay giggles]
JAY: Yeah!
[Brakes screech]
DESCRIPTION: The caterpillar rolls off the track and stops at a red sign on a dirt path.
JAY: Hmm.
[Chiming, jumps boing, energetic music continues]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends. In the backyard, Jay runs, holding the toy caterpillar above his head.
JAY: Zoom! Whoosh! Whoosh!
[Slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Jay stops and turns to Nikhil, who stands on a patio.
JAY: Nikhil! We need to do the caterpillar rollercoaster! Then Max will come back.
[The music stops, toy squeaks]
NIKHIL: Caterpillar rollercoaster? What's that?
[Jump boings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps on his left leg.
JAY: I'll show you. Hold on!
[Light music plays, Nikhil giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil stands behind Jay and puts his hands on Jay’s hips.
JAY: Caterpillar rollercoaster!
[Energetic music plays, whooshing, Nikhil giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay runs across the yard with Nikhil behind him.
JAY: Whoosh! Zoom!
[Nikhil laughs, tires screech, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil lets go of Jay and stops, then Jay stops and walks back to him.
JAY: Huh?
NIKHIL: This isn't a game, Jay.
[Toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Jay squeezes the caterpillar toy.
NIKHIL: We're on a very serious mission…
JAY: Huh?
NIKHIL: To get Max back.
JAY: I know!
[Jay sighs, slide whistles, soft music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Jay’s shoulders slump, and he wipes his nose with his hand. Nikhil puts his right hand on Jay’s left shoulder and smiles.
JAY: But how do we get her back?
[Toy squeaks]
NIKHIL: Hmm. We need some clues.
[Jay gasps, upbeat music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Jay smiles and jumps.
JAY: Yes! And where do we find clues?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil puts his hands on his hips.
NIKHIL: Hmm.
JAY: Uh.
NIKHIL: Uh.
[Rustling, pop, upbeat music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil searches in the kangaroo pocket on the front of his hooded sweater and pulls out the rocks and leaves.
NIKHIL: Hmm. Ah-ha!
[Jay gasps, toy squeaks, thump]
DESCRIPTION: Jay gives Nikhil the caterpillar toy.
JAY: Yes!
NIKHIL: Hmm. Can you tell us where Max is?
[Mellow music plays, slurping, leaves rustle, Max meows, zapping]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Nikhil imagines standing beside Max as leaves float in circles around them. Max cleans her paw. The leaves change to rocks.
NIKHIL: Huh? Ooh.
[Toy squeaks, Nikhil gasps, Max meows, Nikhil giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Toy caterpillars float around Nikhil and Max, and hearts appear over Max. Max jumps and walks in place with huge, shiny eyes.
NIKHIL: Yes!
[The music stops]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends, and, in the backyard, Nikhil looks at Jay.
NIKHIL: Actually, we need to look for more caterpillars.
[Toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps excitedly.
JAY: Yay!
[Upbeat music plays, toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay each raise a fist into the air, and Nikhil holds the caterpillar toy on his palm.
NIKHIL: Mission Find Max is go, go, go!
[Jay giggles, whooshing, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Later, Nikhil and Jay search the patio as Appa walks outside, carrying a leaf.
APPA: Just going to nip to the allotment. I've run out of basil.
[Nikhil gasps, majestic music notes play, Jay gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil takes a leaf out of his kangaroo pocket.
NIKHIL: Ah-ha! Basil!
[The music stops, boing]
DESCRIPTION: Amma pokes her head out of her shed.
AMMA: Allotment? Ooh! Wait! Wait! Wait! Hang on!
[Grass rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Amma carries a caterpillar apron to Appa.
AMMA: This is for Mr. Awan.
[Majestic music notes play, toy squeaks, Nikhil and Jay gasp]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay turn and face each other
NIKHIL AND JAY: Caterpillars!
[Upbeat music plays]
AMMA: Yes! Looks great, right? Mr. Awan is always talking about the caterpillars in the allotment.
[Toy squeaks, Nikhil and Jay gasp]
DESCRIPTION: Jay squeezes the caterpillar toy, then he and Nikhil nod at each other.
JAY: The clues are telling us...
NIKHIL: Max must be in the allotment…
[Jay gasps]
NIKHIL: With caterpillars and basil leaves.
JAY: Appa, can we come to the allotment with you? Please!
APPA: Sure! Why not. Would you keep an eye on my soup, love?
AMMA: Nope!
APPA: Huh?
[Boing]
AMMA: I'll keep both my eyes on it.
[Everyone laughs, whoosh, mellow music plays, basil rustles, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: At the allotment, Appa kneels beside a planter and picks basil leaves. Nikhil and Jay search in the bushes and behind a shed.
NIKHIL: Max! Where are you?
[Toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: The caterpillar toy bounces on Jay’s head.
JAY: Max!
NIKHIL: Max?
[Boings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay walk to Appa.
JAY: Your best friends are here.
[Basil rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Appa stands and shakes the basil leaves he carries.
APPA: I've got the basil.
[Boys gasp]
APPA: Right! Apron time for Mr. Awan. Jaldi! Jaldi!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay follow Appa to a shed door. They stop and look at a sign featuring a person shushing with their finger in front of their mouth, and an open eye.
APPA: Ooh! He's filming for his channel.
NIKHIL: But what about Max?
[Appa shushes]
DESCRIPTION: Jay arrives beside Nikhil.
JAY: Max!
[Nikhil shushes, toy squeaks, Jay shushes, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Jay turns and shushes the empty space beside him.
JAY: Huh?
[Grass rustles, Nikhil and Jay gasp]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay peer into the shed through a window.
APPA: Huh?
[Appa chuckles, boys shush]
DESCRIPTION: Appa look through the window.
APPA: Oh!
[Upbeat music plays, Mr. Awan murmurs, Max meows, slide whistles, whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: In the shed, Max sits on a worktable beside a microphone. Mr. Awan stands behind his smartphone on a tripod and gives Max a thumbs up. Max poses, then falls onto her back, smiling. She springs to her feet, stands on two legs, crosses her front legs, and winks at the camera. Mr. Awan steps between the worktable and the camera.
MR. AWAN: And that's it for today, people! Big thanks to my special guest, Max the cat! Until next time, laters, potatoes!
DESCRIPTION: Jay and Nikhil watch through the window.
JAY: Max is on Mr. Awan's channel?
NIKHIL: Come on, Jay.
[Squeak]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay leave the window.
APPA: Huh?
[Bowl taps, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Inside the shed, Max sits on the floor. Mr. Awan kneels beside her and puts down a bowl of water.
MR. AWAN: Here you go, little Maxy Waxy.
DESCRIPTION: Max drinks the water.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Max!
[Max meows, squeak]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run to Max, kneel, and hug her between them.
NIKHIL: We thought you'd left us...
JAY: For your other friends. We missed you.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hug Max.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Hmm.
[The music ends, footsteps tap]
MR. AWAN: Aw!
DESCRIPTION: Appa enters the shed, carrying the apron.
APPA: A gift for you.
[Squeak]
NIKHIL: Amma made it.
[Mr. Awan gasps, upbeat music plays, squeaks]
MR. AWAN: Oh! Thank your mum for me. I love caterpillars even if my lettuces don't. Caterpillars are the best.
[Whoosh, Jay giggles, toy squeaks, Max meows, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jay takes the caterpillar toy out of his pocket, and Max pounces at it. She misses and sits beside him.
JAY: I think Max agrees.
[Nikhil and Jay laugh, toy squeaks, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Max grabs the toy and walks away, carrying it in her mouth. Mr. Awan picks up his smartphone.
MR. AWAN: Hey! That's my top charity shop find. Max and I made a whole video about it. You guys should check it out.
[Max meows, boys gasp, light music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Max walks to Mr. Awan.
JAY: Huh?
[Max purrs, mellow music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan smiles as Max rubs against his leg.
NIKHIL: Mr. Awan, are you Max's new best friend?
[Max purrs]
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan kneels and pets Max.
MR. AWAN: She's awesome company and a big hit on my channel, but her bestest friends will always be you.
[Squeak, Jay giggles, Nikhil sighs contentedly, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hug Max.
NIKHIL: Our Max.
[Max meows]
JAY: Well done, Max!

DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps forward and stands beside Nikhil.

APPA: Right! Best get back to my soup.
JAY: Max! Are you coming back with us?
[Max meows, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil smiles at Max. In the doorway, she looks back at the boys, then leaves.
JAY: Aw.
NIKHIL: Oh
DESCRIPTION: Appa puts his hands on Jay and Nikhil’s shoulders.
APPA: Hey. Max will be back when she's ready, Jay. Come on.
NIKHIL: Maybe we can do your caterpillar rollercoaster back home.
[Upbeat music plays, Mr. Awan laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil puts his hands on Appa’s hips, and Jay puts his hands on Nikhil’s hips. Mr. Awan watches them leave the shed.
JAY: Yeah! Let's go! Whee!
DESCRIPTION: At home, Amma stands by the stove as Appa, Nikhil, and Jay arrive.
JAY: Whee!
APPA AND NIKHIL: Whoosh!
[Amma laughs, the music stops]
AMMA: You're back! Oh! Did Mr. Awan like the apron?
NIKHIL: He loved it, and we found Max!
[Upbeat music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil hugs Jay against his side.
[Descending music notes play, squeak]
JAY: But she's still at the allotment.
DESCRIPTION: Amma smiles and points.
AMMA: Really? Then who is that?
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
[Toy squeaks, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Max arrives, carrying the caterpillar toy. She drops it on a doormat as she enters the dining room.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Max! You're back!
[Max meows, the music stops]
JAY: Yay! The caterpillar rollercoaster worked, Nikhil!
NIKHIL: Yeah!
[Boys giggle, upbeat music plays, hearts pop, chiming]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run to Max and hug her. Pink and purple hearts appear around them.

[Max purrs, boys sigh contentedly, Max meows, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Max leaps away from the boys. She runs to her cat bed, jumps in, circles, kneads it, then lies down.
NIKHIL: Even though Max has got other friends.
JAY: And goes to cat yoga and Mr. Awan's shed.
NIKHIL: She's still our Max.
[Nikhil and Jay sigh contentedly, Appa and Amma laugh]
NIKHIL AND JAY: Ooh!
[Parents laugh, thump, Nikhil exclaims]
DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Amma and Appa sit on the sofa and watch the tablet screen. Nikhil and Jay run in, Nikhil stops in front of the tablet, and Jay bumps into him.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Ooh!
[Max meows, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: On the tablet screen, Max poses, and Mr. Awan pushes a basket of toys towards her.
MR. AWAN: Yo! Max! Can you spot the caterpillar?
[Rustling, slide whistles, cheering]
DESCRIPTION: Max knocks toys out of the basket, then picks up the caterpillar toy in her mouth. Max bows.
MR. AWAN: Boom! She's done it again! This is what she does! Max the cat, everybody! Let's show the toy to our viewers, Max.
[Slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan tugs on the toy, and Max holds it in her mouth.
MR. AWAN: Max? Max! Max!
[Mr. Awan shouts, crash, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Max lets go of the toy, and Mr. Awan falls backwards. He holds up his hand and gives a thumbs-up.
MR. AWAN: Oh, Maxy.
[Slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps onto the toy basket and wiggles her bottom as she peers at her caterpillar toy on a nearby carrom board.
MR. AWAN: Hey! Max! No!
[Clattering]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps on the carrom board and knocks it down.
MR. AWAN: Oh!
[Nikhil, Jay, Appa, and Amma laugh, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: The video ends. In the living room, the family laughs. In her cat bed, Max smiles and winks.
