NIKHIL: Hi, I'm Nikhil.
JAY: And I'm Jay!
[Map rustles, boings, plane whooshes, Appa shouts, Amma laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls down a map showing a small boat in the water off the coast of South India. Amma’s face appears. She has chin-length brown hair with a yellow bow. A plane flies to England, and Appa’s face appears. He has short brown hair and a beard. A heart-shaped outline surrounds them. Amma dances, and Appa holds a cat-shaped mug.
[Song] Here's a little story about where our family's from. It starts in South India with Amma, our mom. She caught a plane to England and met our dad, Appa. She loves to dance, and he makes the best cuppa. Oh. And then we came along. Oh. And this is our song.

[Chimes, coins rattle, rocket ship whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: They high-five and daydream about riding coins on a carrom board. In outer space, they peer through the window of a rocket ship.
[Song] We both love to dream. We can shoot a carrom pocket. Yeah, or blast off in a rocket. We make the greatest team.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist-bump.
[Needle scratches a record, slide whistle]
NIKHIL: Wait.
JAY: What?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hold a picture of their grandparents, Ammamma and Thatha. Ammamma has short black hair and wears a yellow shirt and a blue saree. Thatha has short white hair and wears a yellow jacket, a white shirt, and eyeglasses on a chain around his neck.
NIKHIL: There's Ammamma and Thatha.
[Jim and Nana exclaim]

JAY: Yes! Nana is the best lollipop lady ever, ever, ever!

DESCRIPTION: Jay skips across the room.

[Jay laughs, slide whistles, rustling, jumps boing, cheering, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Jay slides down a black-and-white striped slide and bounces on a green traffic sign, a red traffic sign, and another green sign.
JAY: The whirly zebra! Whoo-hoo! Lollipop! Whee! Yeah.
[Jay laughs, jumps boing]

DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends, and Nikhil and Jay jump up and down in front of the sofa.

NANA: Grouchy sleepy monsters! Rarrr!
[Boys laugh, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay follow Nana towards the dining room.
NANA: Let's get this bedtime started!
[Boys laugh]
DESCRIPTION: In the dining room, Nana puts two cups of milk on the table in front of Nikhil and Jay.
NANA: There you go. Get that down, you.
JAY: Don't forget these!
[Slide whistle, plates tap, triumphant music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay put sliced mango, payasam, and another bowl of food on the table.
[Upbeat music plays]
NANA: Uh... Amma and Appa didn't mention anything about mangoes, or payasam, or any other snacks.
[Slide whistle]
NIKHIL: Oh, you know them! Always forgetting things.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil winks at Jay.
[Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Nana adjusts her red eyeglasses and looks at her smartphone.
NANA: I'll give them a ring to check.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Wait, wait, wait!
NIKHIL: We don't need to do that!
[Slide whistle]
JAY: They'll be way too busy.
[Dings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil smiles and nods. Nana puts her right hand on her hip and nods.
NIKHIL: Because you're new to this, Nana, we'll just have the milk.
[Nikhil slurps]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil sips his milk.
JAY: And maybe a teeny-tiny bit of payasam? Please?!
[Nana chuckles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay looks at Nana with big eyes.
NANA: Right. What's next? Oh! Oh!
[Rumbling, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run in a circle around Nana.
JAY: Bedtime rollercoaster!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Whee!
[Nana sighs, boys cheer]
DESCRIPTION: Nana picks up her sign and shows the boys the red side.
NANA: Stop.
[Tires squeal, the music stops, horn honks]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay stop in front of the sign.
NANA: All rollercoasters are diverted upstairs, for pyjama and teeth time.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay smile.
JAY: Okay!
NIKHIL: Yeah!
NANA: Oh!
[Nana chuckles]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run to the stairs. At the bottom, Max walks to Nana.
JAY: Let's go!
NIKHIL: Yeah!
[Boys laugh, Nana sighs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run upstairs.
NANA: Are they always like this?
[Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Max rolls her eyes.
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: In the bathroom, Nikhil and Jay hold their toothbrushes over their heads and run out to the hall.
KIDS: Whoosh!
[Boys chatter, Nana laughs, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana walks into the bathroom, and Nikhil and Jay run past her. They lie on the floor facing each other.
NANA: It's time for rollercoasters to clean their teeth.
JAY: Rollercoasters don't clean their teeth, Nana.
NIKHIL: And we're not being rollercoasters any more. We're being...
[Whoosh, Nana exclaims]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay jump to their feet and run back and forth, holding their toothbrushes over their heads.
NIKHIL: Toothbrushes in space! It's how we always clean our teeth.
NANA: Well, down here on Earth, this is how we clean our teeth.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
[Disco music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at Nana, who holds a green toothbrush, brushes her teeth and dances.
NANA SINGS: A-brushy-brushy-brusha. A-brushy-brushy-brusha.
[Boys gasp]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil, Jay, and Nana dance and brush their teeth.
EVERYONE SINGS: A-brushy-brushy-brusha. A-brushy-brushy-brusha.
NANA: That's the ticket!
[Toothbrush scrubs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil smiles and brushes his teeth.
EVERYONE SINGS: A-brushy-brushy-brusha.
[Chiming, boys giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay smile broadly at each other, their teeth gleaming.
[The music stops]
NANA: Oh, look at those shiny teeth! Gorgeous! So, teeth are done. That means it's...story and bedtime!
[Discordant music notes play]
NIKHIL AND JAY: What?!
JAY: Can't we do the other things we usually do before bed?
[Ding, Nikhil giggles, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Jay winks at Nikhil. Nana lifts her eyebrows and smiles.
NANA: Hm... Like what?
NIKHIL: Stay up and watch T.V.
JAY: And eat biscuits from Appa's special—
[Yawns]
JAY: Jar.
[Nikhil yawns, upbeat music plays quietly]
NANA: Of course!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yes!
JAY WHISPERS: Best bedtime ever, ever, ever.
[Ding]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist-bump. Nana lifts her smartphone.
NANA: But I'll just phone Amma and Appa to check it's okay first.
NIKHIL: No! Oh...
[Alarmed music notes play]
NANA: Uh-oh! Did you hear that?
NIKHIL AND JAY: What?!
[Nikhil and Jay yawn]
NANA: You know what big yawns mean?
NIKHIL AND JAY: What?!
NANA: Big yawns are the first clue...
NIKHIL AND JAY: Of what?!
[Alarmed music plays]
NANA: That you're turning into grouchy sleepy monsters! Arr!
[Boys gulp]
NIKHIL: What are the other clues?
NANA: Hm. Let's see, erm...Grouchy voices.
[Nikhil and Jay gasp]
NANA: Then there's the crossing of the arms.
[Nikhil and Jay gasp]
NANA: Then, the big one. The one when you know it's almost too late.
NIKHIL AND JAY: What is it?!
NANA: The... foot-stomp!
[Nikhil gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Nana slowly lowers her foot to the floor.
JAY: Oh!
[Max meows, echoing thump]
DESCRIPTION: The room shakes as Nana stomps.
JAY: We'll never turn into grouchy sleepy monsters.
NIKHIL: Mm-mm.
JAY: Ever, ever, ever! Will we?
DESCRIPTION: Jay looks at Nikhil.
NANA: Not if we crack on with a story!
[Nana claps]
NANA: Come on, it's past your bedtime.
[Soft music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In their darkened bedroom, Nikhil and Jay lie in their bunk beds. Nana sits on an ottoman, reading a book, and Max lies on the floor.
NANA: One day, Goldilollipop went to visit the three bears.
JAY: "Goldilollipop?"
[Jay laughs]
NANA: "Oh! Yummy-scrummy porridge," said Goldilollipop, as she dipped her lollipop stick into the bowl.
[Thump]
DESCRIPTION: Nana shuts the book.
NANA: The end! Bedtime!
NIKHIL AND JAY: What?!
JAY: We normally read three thousand hundred more stories!
DESCRIPTION: Nana takes out her smartphone.
NANA: Oh! I'll check that with your Amma.
NIKHIL AND JAY: No!
NANA: Uh-oh! It's happening!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay get out of bed and look at Nana.
NIKHIL AND JAY: What is?
NANA: You're turning into grouchy sleepy monsters!
[Dramatic music plays]
NIKHIL AND JAY: No, we're not!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay cross their arms.
NANA: Didn't you hear your grouchy voices?
NIKHIL: Huh?
[Nana gasps, tense music plays]
NANA: Crossed arms!
[Nikhil gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil stares at Nana and uncrosses his arms. Jay stands with his arms crossed and his eyebrows furrowed.
JAY: I am not turning into a grouchy sleepy monster!
DESCRIPTION: Jay lifts his foot. Nikhil’s eyes widen, and he points at Jay.
NIKHIL: Ah! The foot stomp!
[Echoing thump, Nana gasps, Max meows, Jay gasps, the music stops]
JAY: I am turning into a grouchy sleepy monster! But... Maybe it'll be fun!
[Whoosh]
NIKHIL: Hm. Maybe it would be okay to have a grouchy monster for a brother.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Nikhil imagines bouncing a ball on a city street at night. Jay jumps in front of him on all fours, with two mismatched socks as horns on his head and claws on his fingers and toes.
JAY: Rarr!
[Pop]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil throws the ball to Jay, and it bursts.
JAY: Raah!
[Jay laughs, carrom coins rattle]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil plays carrom, and Jay, as the monster, knocks the coins off the board.
JAY: Rarr!
[Nikhil pants, screams]
DESCRIPTION: Beneath the stars, Nikhil runs down the street to Star and Chickpea. Jay, as a giant monster, appears between skyscrapers, waving his arms. The daydream ends, and Nikhil and Jay stand in their bedroom.

NIKHIL: Actually, I don't want a grouchy sleepy monster for a brother!
JAY: Me neither! What are we going to do?!
NANA: Don't worry, pets, I'll help you get to sleep.
[Rustle, gentle music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay smile and sit on Jay’s bed.
NANA: Just like I used to help your Appa to get to asleep when he was little.
NIKHIL: What was Appa like when he was little, Nana?
NANA: Oh! He was a cutie. My little Yorkshire pudding.
[Boys giggle, yawn]
NANA: And he used to go to sleep by counting...
[Jump boings]
DESCRIPTION: Nana jumps past the boys.

DESCRIPTION: Nana answers her smartphone with Max looking over her shoulder, and Jim appears on the screen.
JIM: Hello. Is, eh, everything all right?
NANA: Oh. Well, I'm being attacked! By monsters.
DESCRIPTION: On the bottom bunk, Nikhil holds up his arms and crosses his eyes. Jay holds his mouth open, sticks out his tongue, and rolls his eyes.
NIKHIL: Rrr!
[Boys laugh, upbeat music plays]
NANA: How is your evening, pet?
JIM: Eh, I can't get to sleep without my goodnight 'nuggle.
NANA: Oh, Jim! What do you like!
[Nana giggles, smooches]
DESCRIPTION: Nana kisses the screen.
NANA: Nighty night, sweet dreams.
[Smooch]
DESCRIPTION: Jim kisses the screen.
JIM: Night-night, my love.
[Beep]
DESCRIPTION: The phone call ends.
NIKHIL: Hm...
[Nikhil gasps]

JAY: We forgot to kiss Amma and Appa before they left!

JAY: I miss them. I wish they were here.
[Boing]

DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Nana sits on the sofa and puts her feet on the coffee table. She picks up a remote control.
NANA: Time for this Nana sheep to put her hooves up. Baahahaha!

APPA: Oh.
[Whoosh]
DESCRIPTION: Nana appears beside Appa.
NANA: We'll be fine!
[Appa exclaims]
DESCRIPTION: Nana pushes Appa away from the doorway.
NANA: Now. Skedaddle!
[Door closes, boys laugh]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay walk across the living room.
NANA: Whoa, whoa, whoa!
[Honking]
DESCRIPTION: Nana blocks Nikhil and Jay’s path, holding her traffic sign turned to red.
NANA: Stop right there! Now, kiddos, you can go!
[Whistle blares, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana turns her sign to green, and Nikhil pumps his fist.
JAY: Yes! Nana is the best lollipop lady ever, ever, ever!
NIKHIL: Yeah.
[Boings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay skips across the room.
JAY: Yay!
[Jay laughs, slide whistles, rustling, jumps boing, cheering, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Jay slides down a black-and-white striped slide and bounces on a green traffic sign, a red traffic sign, and another green sign.
JAY: The whirly zebra! Whoo-hoo! Lollipop! Whee! Yeah.
[Jay laughs, jumps boing]
JAY CHEERS: Yeah!
[Jumps boing, upbeat music continues]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends, and Nikhil and Jay jump up and down in front of the sofa.
JAY: We can slide the whirly zebra! And jump on the lollipop trampolines!
NANA: Stop!
[Honking, upbeat music plays, slide whistle]
NANA: Sorry, pets, but there'll be none of that, or you'll never get to sleep.
[The music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at the floor.
BOYS: Aw...
NANA: And if you don't sleep, you'll turn into...
[Dramatic music plays, thunder booms]
NANA: Grouchy sleepy monsters! Rarrr!
[Boys laugh, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay follow Nana towards the dining room.
NANA: Let's get this bedtime started!
[Boys laugh]
DESCRIPTION: In the dining room, Nana puts two cups of milk on the table in front of Nikhil and Jay.
NANA: There you go. Get that down, you.
JAY: Don't forget these!
[Slide whistle, plates tap, triumphant music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay put sliced mango, payasam, and another bowl of food on the table.
[Upbeat music plays]
NANA: Uh... Amma and Appa didn't mention anything about mangoes, or payasam, or any other snacks.
[Slide whistle]
NIKHIL: Oh, you know them! Always forgetting things.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil winks at Jay.
[Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Nana adjusts her red eyeglasses and looks at her smartphone.
NANA: I'll give them a ring to check.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Wait, wait, wait!
NIKHIL: We don't need to do that!
[Slide whistle]
JAY: They'll be way too busy.
[Dings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil smiles and nods. Nana puts her right hand on her hip and nods.
NIKHIL: Because you're new to this, Nana, we'll just have the milk.
[Nikhil slurps]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil sips his milk.
JAY: And maybe a teeny-tiny bit of payasam? Please?!
[Nana chuckles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay looks at Nana with big eyes.
NANA: Right. What's next? Oh! Oh!
[Rumbling, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run in a circle around Nana.
JAY: Bedtime rollercoaster!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Whee!
[Nana sighs, boys cheer]
DESCRIPTION: Nana picks up her sign and shows the boys the red side.
NANA: Stop.
[Tires squeal, the music stops, horn honks]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay stop in front of the sign.
NANA: All rollercoasters are diverted upstairs, for pyjama and teeth time.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay smile.
JAY: Okay!
NIKHIL: Yeah!
NANA: Oh!
[Nana chuckles]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run to the stairs. At the bottom, Max walks to Nana.
JAY: Let's go!
NIKHIL: Yeah!
[Boys laugh, Nana sighs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run upstairs.
NANA: Are they always like this?
[Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Max rolls her eyes.
[Whooshing]
DESCRIPTION: In the bathroom, Nikhil and Jay hold their toothbrushes over their heads and run out to the hall.
KIDS: Whoosh!
[Boys chatter, Nana laughs, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana walks into the bathroom, and Nikhil and Jay run past her. They lie on the floor facing each other.
NANA: It's time for rollercoasters to clean their teeth.
JAY: Rollercoasters don't clean their teeth, Nana.
NIKHIL: And we're not being rollercoasters any more. We're being...
[Whoosh, Nana exclaims]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay jump to their feet and run back and forth, holding their toothbrushes over their heads.
NIKHIL: Toothbrushes in space! It's how we always clean our teeth.
NANA: Well, down here on Earth, this is how we clean our teeth.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
[Disco music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at Nana, who holds a green toothbrush, brushes her teeth and dances.
NANA SINGS: A-brushy-brushy-brusha. A-brushy-brushy-brusha.
[Boys gasp]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil, Jay, and Nana dance and brush their teeth.
EVERYONE SINGS: A-brushy-brushy-brusha. A-brushy-brushy-brusha.
NANA: That's the ticket!
[Toothbrush scrubs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil smiles and brushes his teeth.
EVERYONE SINGS: A-brushy-brushy-brusha.
[Chiming, boys giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay smile broadly at each other, their teeth gleaming.
[The music stops]
NANA: Oh, look at those shiny teeth! Gorgeous! So, teeth are done. That means it's...story and bedtime!
[Discordant music notes play]
NIKHIL AND JAY: What?!
JAY: Can't we do the other things we usually do before bed?
[Ding, Nikhil giggles, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Jay winks at Nikhil. Nana lifts her eyebrows and smiles.
NANA: Hm... Like what?
NIKHIL: Stay up and watch T.V.
JAY: And eat biscuits from Appa's special—
[Yawns]
JAY: Jar.
[Nikhil yawns, upbeat music plays quietly]
NANA: Of course!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yes!
JAY WHISPERS: Best bedtime ever, ever, ever.
[Ding]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist-bump. Nana lifts her smartphone.
NANA: But I'll just phone Amma and Appa to check it's okay first.
NIKHIL: No! Oh...
[Alarmed music notes play]
NANA: Uh-oh! Did you hear that?
NIKHIL AND JAY: What?!
[Nikhil and Jay yawn]
NANA: You know what big yawns mean?
NIKHIL AND JAY: What?!
NANA: Big yawns are the first clue...
NIKHIL AND JAY: Of what?!
[Alarmed music plays]
NANA: That you're turning into grouchy sleepy monsters! Arr!
[Boys gulp]
NIKHIL: What are the other clues?
NANA: Hm. Let's see, erm...Grouchy voices.
[Nikhil and Jay gasp]
NANA: Then there's the crossing of the arms.
[Nikhil and Jay gasp]
NANA: Then, the big one. The one when you know it's almost too late.
NIKHIL AND JAY: What is it?!
NANA: The... foot-stomp!
[Nikhil gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Nana slowly lowers her foot to the floor.
JAY: Oh!
[Max meows, echoing thump]
DESCRIPTION: The room shakes as Nana stomps.
JAY: We'll never turn into grouchy sleepy monsters.
NIKHIL: Mm-mm.
JAY: Ever, ever, ever! Will we?
DESCRIPTION: Jay looks at Nikhil.
NANA: Not if we crack on with a story!
[Nana claps]
NANA: Come on, it's past your bedtime.
[Soft music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In their darkened bedroom, Nikhil and Jay lie in their bunk beds. Nana sits on an ottoman, reading a book, and Max lies on the floor.
NANA: One day, Goldilollipop went to visit the three bears.
JAY: "Goldilollipop?"
[Jay laughs]
NANA: "Oh! Yummy-scrummy porridge," said Goldilollipop, as she dipped her lollipop stick into the bowl.
[Thump]
DESCRIPTION: Nana shuts the book.
NANA: The end! Bedtime!
NIKHIL AND JAY: What?!
JAY: We normally read three thousand hundred more stories!
DESCRIPTION: Nana takes out her smartphone.
NANA: Oh! I'll check that with your Amma.
NIKHIL AND JAY: No!
NANA: Uh-oh! It's happening!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay get out of bed and look at Nana.
NIKHIL AND JAY: What is?
NANA: You're turning into grouchy sleepy monsters!
[Dramatic music plays]
NIKHIL AND JAY: No, we're not!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay cross their arms.
NANA: Didn't you hear your grouchy voices?
NIKHIL: Huh?
[Nana gasps, tense music plays]
NANA: Crossed arms!
[Nikhil gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil stares at Nana and uncrosses his arms. Jay stands with his arms crossed and his eyebrows furrowed.
JAY: I am not turning into a grouchy sleepy monster!
DESCRIPTION: Jay lifts his foot. Nikhil’s eyes widen, and he points at Jay.
NIKHIL: Ah! The foot stomp!
[Echoing thump, Nana gasps, Max meows, Jay gasps, the music stops]
JAY: I am turning into a grouchy sleepy monster! But... Maybe it'll be fun!
[Whoosh]
NIKHIL: Hm. Maybe it would be okay to have a grouchy monster for a brother.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Nikhil imagines bouncing a ball on a city street at night. Jay jumps in front of him on all fours, with two mismatched socks as horns on his head and claws on his fingers and toes.
JAY: Rarr!
[Pop]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil throws the ball to Jay, and it bursts.
JAY: Raah!
[Jay laughs, carrom coins rattle]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil plays carrom, and Jay, as the monster, knocks the coins off the board.
JAY: Rarr!
[Nikhil pants, screams]
DESCRIPTION: Beneath the stars, Nikhil runs down the street to Star and Chickpea. Jay, as a giant monster, appears between skyscrapers, waving his arms. The daydream ends, and Nikhil and Jay stand in their bedroom.
[The music ends]
NIKHIL: Actually, I don't want a grouchy sleepy monster for a brother!
JAY: Me neither! What are we going to do?!
NANA: Don't worry, pets, I'll help you get to sleep.
[Rustle, gentle music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay smile and sit on Jay’s bed.
NANA: Just like I used to help your Appa to get to asleep when he was little.
NIKHIL: What was Appa like when he was little, Nana?
NANA: Oh! He was a cutie. My little Yorkshire pudding.
[Boys giggle, yawn]
NANA: And he used to go to sleep by counting...
[Jump boings]
DESCRIPTION: Nana jumps past the boys.
NANA: Nana sheep!
[Nana bleats, jumps boing, boys yawn]
NIKHIL AND JAY: One Nana sheep...
[Nana bleats, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Max sits between the boys as Nana jumps past.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Two Nana sheep...
[Nana bleats, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Max swings at Nana as she jumps past.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Three Nana sheep...
[Max meows, boys yawn, Nana bleats, Max yawns, yowls]
DESCRIPTION: Max swings at Nana as she jumps past. Max shuts her eyes, opens them, and lunges at Nana. Nana stops jumping and catches Max.
NANA: Oh!
[Boys gasp, gentle music plays]
JAY: Nikhil, I don't want to turn into a monster, but I can't go to sleep.
[Phone rings, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nana answers her smartphone with Max looking over her shoulder, and Jim appears on the screen.
JIM: Hello. Is, eh, everything all right?
NANA: Oh. Well, I'm being attacked! By monsters.
DESCRIPTION: On the bottom bunk, Nikhil holds up his arms and crosses his eyes. Jay holds his mouth open, sticks out his tongue, and rolls his eyes.
NIKHIL: Rrr!
[Boys laugh, upbeat music plays]
NANA: How is your evening, pet?
JIM: Eh, I can't get to sleep without my goodnight 'nuggle.
NANA: Oh, Jim! What do you like!
[Nana giggles, smooches]
DESCRIPTION: Nana kisses the screen.
NANA: Nighty night, sweet dreams.
[Smooch]
DESCRIPTION: Jim kisses the screen.
JIM: Night-night, my love.
[Beep]
DESCRIPTION: The phone call ends.
NIKHIL: Hm...
[Nikhil gasps]
NIKHIL: Kiss goodnight! That's what we need to do to go to sleep.
[Jay gasps]
JAY: We forgot to kiss Amma and Appa before they left!
[Jay sighs]
JAY: I miss them. I wish they were here.
[Boing]
DESCRIPTION: Nana sits on the bed between Nikhil and Jay.
NANA: Oh, shall I give them a ring?
Yes, please!
[Max meows, phone rings, background rock music plays, background chatter]
DESCRIPTION: Appa and Amma appear on the screen with disco ball lights on the wall behind them.
KIDS: Amma! Appa!
[Parents laugh]
NIKHIL AND JAY: We miss you.
[Parents laugh]
AMMA: We miss you too, chellams!
APPA: Sleep well, boys.
[Smooches]
DESCRIPTION: Amma blows kisses.
NIKHIL: 'Night, Amma.
[Nikhil yawns]
JAY: Night-night, little Yorkshire pudding.
[Nana giggles]
APPA: Huh?
[Amma and Appa laugh, Jay yawns]
DESCRIPTION: Nana waves at the screen.
NANA: Ta-ra, ducks!
[Beep, blanket rustles, gentle music plays, Jay and Nikhil sigh, door squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Nana ends the call. Nikhil and Jay lie tucked under their blankets in bed, and Nana slowly shuts the bedroom door.
NANA: Nighty-night.
[Nana sighs, thud]
DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Nana sits on the sofa and puts her feet on the coffee table. She picks up a remote control.
NANA: Time for this Nana sheep to put her hooves up. Baahahaha!
[Slide whistle, Max meows]
NANA: Oh?
[Max meows, clatter]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps over Nana and lands on a carrom board.
NANA: Oh!
[Meowing, crashing]
DESCRIPTION: Outside, the upstairs lights at the neighbour’s house turn on.
NANA: Ah, Max... What are you like!
[Max meows, distant dog barks, car alarm blares, Nana giggles]
[Upbeat music plays]
