DESCRIPTION: In an animation, the front door of a townhouse opens, and Nikhil smiles. He has short brown hair and brown eyes and wears a red hooded sweater. Inside the house, his little brother, Jay, also has short brown hair and brown eyes. He wears a purple shirt with blue-green trim.
NIKHIL: Hi, I'm Nikhil.
JAY: And I'm Jay!
[Map rustles, boings, plane whooshes, Appa shouts, Amma laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls down a map showing a small boat in the water off the coast of South India. Amma’s face appears. She has chin-length brown hair with a yellow bow. A plane flies to England, and Appa’s face appears. He has short brown hair and a beard. A heart-shaped outline surrounds them. Amma dances, and Appa holds a cat-shaped mug.
[Song] Here's a little story about where our family's from. It starts in South India with Amma, our mom. She caught a plane to England and met our dad, Appa. She loves to dance, and he makes the best cuppa. Oh. And then we came along. Oh. And this is our song.

JAY: Nikhil likes...
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil peers through binoculars.

DESCRIPTION: Jay bounces with his arms in the air.
JAY: Being loud!
[Chimes, coins rattle, rocket ship whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: They high-five and daydream about riding coins on a carrom board. In outer space, they peer through the window of a rocket ship.
[Song] We both love to dream. We can shoot a carrom pocket. Yeah, or blast off in a rocket. We make the greatest team.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist-bump.
[Needle scratches a record, slide whistle]
NIKHIL: Wait.
JAY: What?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hold a picture of their grandparents, Ammamma and Thatha. Ammamma has short black hair and wears a yellow shirt and a blue saree. Thatha has short white hair and wears a yellow jacket, a white shirt, and eyeglasses on a chain around his neck.
NIKHIL: There's Ammamma and Thatha.
[Jim and Nana exclaim]
DESCRIPTION: Jim and Nana stand behind Nikhil and Jay. Jim has short brown hair and holds a tray of food. He wears a green shirt and brown pants. Nana holds her lollipop traffic sign turned red.

NIKHIL AND JAY: Appa! Guess who's back!
[Upbeat music plays]
NIKHIL: Nah-Nah-Nah-Nikhil!
JAY: And Jah-Jah-Jah-Jay!
[Slide whistles]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay stand back-to-back with their arms crossed. Amma stands in the dining room doorway, smiling.
AMMA: And a very thirsty Ah-Ah-Ah-Amma!
[Boys giggle, Appa chuckles, slide whistle, jumps boing, mug taps]
DESCRIPTION: Appa picks up a purple mug, and Amma sits at the dining room table. He brings her the mug as Jay chases Nikhil past.
APPA: So, boys, how did the routine check-up go?
JAY: It was great! I love hospitals! The doctors and nurses are the best!
[Whoosh]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil sits on the stool, and Jay grabs a spoon from the counter.
NIKHIL: Yeah, Appa! Did you know your knee could do this?
JAY: Gentle tap.
[Boing, Nikhil giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay taps Nikhil’s right knee with the spoon, and Nikhil lifts his knee.
NIKHIL: It's a test to check if my knee is working.
JAY: Tap!
[Boing, ding, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Jay taps Nikhil’s right knee with the spoon, and Nikhil lifts his knee.
NIKHIL: And it is!
[Amma blows]
DESCRIPTION: Appa stands with his arm around Amma as she blows on her tea.
APPA: Whoa! That is cool.
[Upbeat music notes play]
JAY: We should test Amma's knee, too!
[Amma laughs, the music stops]
AMMA: No thanks, Chellams. But I would love a comfy cushion, please.
[Boing, gentle music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay brings a green cushion and puts it between the chair and Amma’s back.
JAY: Okay!
[Amma sighs, squeaking, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Amma wiggles against the cushion.
AMMA: That feels better. Thanks, Chellam.
[Boings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay runs and stands facing Nikhil.
JAY: Yay! I want to make everybody feel better! Ooh! Just like the doctors and nurses at the hospital.
[Whooshing, lively music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Jay imagines wearing his butterfly wings, a stethoscope, and a head mirror as he flies over sad-looking stuffies. A robot has a cast on its right foot, a toy duck has a bandaged left wing, Chickpea has an adhesive bandage on its head, Star has a banana on its head, and an elephant stuffy has a thermometer in its mouth.
JAY: Don't worry! Dr. Jay is here!
[Robot whirrs, duck quacks, hearts pop]
DESCRIPTION: Jay adjusts the robot’s antenna and hugs the duck. Hearts surround them.
JAY: Mmm!
[Jay giggles, Star squeaks, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay takes the banana off Star and puts it on Chickpea. Jay sidesteps and takes the thermometer out of the mouth of the elephant.
JAY: Yeah!
[Hearts pop, stuffies vocalize, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Hearts appear and pop over the head of the elephant. Jay flies over the stuffies, and the stuffies wave. The daydream ends and, in the kitchen, Jay looks at Nikhil.
[Light music plays]
JAY: I know! I could be Dr. Jay, and you could be Nurse Nikhil!
[Nikhil gasps]
NIKHIL: Yeah!
[Upbeat music plays, boings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay bounces and pops out from behind the kitchen counter.
JAY: And we can make the happiest hospital ever, ever, ever!
NIKHIL: Ha-ha!
[Hands slap, zap, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay high-five.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yes!
NIKHIL: Who's gonna be our first patient? Hmm.
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay both look around the room, each with their right index finger on their chin.
JAY: Hmm.
[Ding]
DESCRIPTION: Jay looks at Max.
JAY: Uh, ah-ha!
[Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Max lies on her back and waves her paws in the air, smiling. Jay kneels beside her and points at her paws as he counts. Nikhil stands behind Jay, making notes on a clipboard.
JAY: One, two, three, four. Four paws! Check! One tail, nice! And two ears. Lovely!
[Max meows]
JAY: You are definitely a cat!
[Max grumbles]
DESCRIPTION: Max rolls her eyes.
JAY: Now, let's check your tongue, Max. Tongue tester, please, Nurse Nikhil.
[Max meows, slide whistle, suspenseful music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil gives Jay a wooden spoon, and Max flees.
[Unhappy music plays]
NIKHIL: Dr. Jay, we no longer have our first patient.
[Jay gasps, spoon clatters]
DESCRIPTION: Jay drops the spoon and leans forward with his right hand on his face.
JAY: No! Max was our only patient! What do we do?
[Doorbell rings, Nikhil and Jay gasp, whooshing]
NANA: Cooey! Only us!
[Jim chuckles, Nikhil and Jay gasp, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana and Jim stand on the doorstep and wave. Inside, Nikhil and Jay look at each other and raise their arms.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Patients!
JIM AND NANA: Oh?
[Whoosh, slide whistle, chime, drum roll plays]
DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Nana and Jim sit on the sofa, and Nikhil and Jay fist bump. Nikhil gestures at Jay, who stands with his back turned to his grandparents.
NIKHIL: Introducing Dr. Jay!
[Triumphant music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay turns and smiles. He gestures at Nikhil.
JAY: And Nurse Nikhil!
[Fireworks whistle, boom]
NIKHIL AND JAY: At the Nikhil and Jay Happy Hospital!
[Nana claps, the music stops]
NANA: Wahoo! What a fantastic show!
[Nana giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at Nana with narrowed eyes.
JAY: Um, no, Nana.
[Nana and Jim exclaim]
JAY: This is not a show.
[Nana giggles, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil points at Nana.
NIKHIL: It's a real hospital, and you are real patients.
NANA: Oh!
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jim puts his right hand on his left elbow.
JIM: Uh? Well, funnily enough, my elbow has always been dodgy.
[Jim chuckles, Nana murmurs, Nikhil gasps]
NIKHIL: This is an emergency! Our patient needs rest right now!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls Jim back so he lies against the sofa arm.
JIM: Oh, well, if you insist.
[Boing]
DESCRIPTION: Jim puts his right leg on Nana’s lap.
NANA: Oh!
JIM: I'll have a lie down on the sofa. I mean hospital bed.
[Jim and Jay giggle, Jim sighs happily]
DESCRIPTION: Jim rests his head on his left arm.
JIM: That's the ticket.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil rubs Jim’s left arm and lays his cheek against it.
[Mellow music plays]
NIKHIL: That's it. You get nice and comfy. We look after everyone at the Nikhil and Jay Happy Hospital!
[Slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Nana lifts Jim’s leg, then drops it back on her lap as Amma looks into the living room from the dining room doorway.
NANA: Oh!
AMMA: Oh, I see you're in good hands. I'll be in the garden if you need me.
[Hiccups]
AMMA: Oops!
[Amma laughs]
AMMA: Drank my tea too quickly.
[Slide whistle, tense music notes play]
JAY: Oh, no! Amma has a case of the hickety-hups!
[Boings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay follows Amma. Nikhil gives Nana a T.V. remote, then puts his hands on his hips.
NIKHIL: Stay here and rest. You can watch some hospital T.V. while you wait.
[Upbeat music plays]
NANA: Oh, great. We could watch Detective Detective.
JIM: No, The History of Oat Cakes.
[Amma hums, hiccups, soil rustles]
DESCRIPTION: In the backyard, Amma holds two flowerpots which bounce in her hands as she hiccups.
AMMA: Oh.
[Popping, upbeat music plays, Amma hums, jumps boing, Amma gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Amma puts the pots on the grass and picks up a potted plant. Jay and Nikhil peek through the patio doorway, then Jay runs to Amma and peers at her tummy.
AMMA: Oh, Chellam. What are you doing?
JAY: Getting rid of your hickety-hups.
[Amma’s tummy gurgles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay cups his hand by his right ear.
JAY: Uh-oh. Nurse Nikhil, please pass me my boom-boom chest thingy.
[Slide whistle, boing, whoosh, the music stops, thumps]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil gives Jay an empty pot, and Jay holds it against Amma’s tummy, then her thigh.
JAY: Uh, I can't hear anything.
NIKHIL: Mmm.
[Nikhil gasps]
NIKHIL: Boom-boom, boom-boom.
[Jay gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil runs to Jay and stands behind him.
NIKHIL SHOUTS: Boom! Boom! Boomtity-boom!
[Amma gasps, wobbles, thumps, sighs, hiccups, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Amma falls backwards.
JAY: Oops. Uh-oh. The hickety-hups are worse than we thought.
[Amma hiccups]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay stand over Amma, looking down. Jay crosses his arms.
NIKHIL: Hmm. The best cure for the hickety-hups is the jumps!
JAY: Excellent idea, Nurse Nikhil.
[Amma hiccups]
JAY: Amma, you must do star jumps.
[Amma hiccups, boings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay pull Amma to her feet, and all three do star jumps.
JAY: To jump the hickety-hups out of you.
[Amma hiccups, boings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay stop jumping.
NIKHIL: Doctor's orders.
[Amma hiccups, boings]
DESCRIPTION: Amma star jumps, and Jay and Nikhil leave.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay enter the dining room as Appa dances in the kitchen, holding a banana. He picks up an apple, then fills his arms with fruit.
APPA: Banana! Oh! And apples! Oh! Mango!
NIKHIL: Why is Appa rushing around shouting about fruit?
[Slide whistles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay points his fingers, then runs in place.
JAY: Hmm. He's got a serious case of the fruity-rushies!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Stop right now, Appa!
DESCRIPTION: Appa stands in front of the stove with the fruit. He looks back over his left shoulder at Nikhil and Jay.
APPA: Huh?
[The music stops]
NIKHIL: There's only one cure.
[Boing, wobbling]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil lifts his left leg. He waves his arms as he wobbles, then straightens up, bending his left knee and moving the foot against his right leg.
NIKHIL: You need to stand on one leg right now, or the fruity-rushies will get worse!
[Light music plays]
APPA: I would, but I'm making my specialty fruit salad for Nana and Jim. They're getting a bit hangry.
[Appa chuckles]
NIKHIL: Hangry? Is that a real word?
[Tummy gurgles, thunder booms]
APPA: Hungry plus angry, hangry.
[Nikhil and Jay laugh, upbeat music plays]
NIKHIL: Nana and Jim are in the Nikhil and Jay Happy Hospital.
[Boing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps, raising his arms.
JAY: We'll look after them. Just like we're looking after you! On one leg, please.
[Appa sighs, boing]
DESCRIPTION: Appa holds the fruit and lifts his left leg.
APPA: Whoa!
NIKHIL: Wonderful work, Dr. Jay.
DESCRIPTION: Jay closes his eyes, puts his left hand on his hip, and nods.
NIKHIL: Now to make some notes.
[Whooshing, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay grabs the clipboard and scribbles with a green crayon.
NIKHIL: Notes! Notes! Notes!
[Appa groans]
NIKHIL: Huh?
[Slide whistle, thud, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Appa wobbles and loses his balance. Nikhil and Jay watch him fall.
APPA: Ooh, ooh, ooh! Ah! Ah!
JAY: Uh-oh.
[Appa chuckles, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Appa sits on the floor, smiling.
JAY: I think we need to try a different cure.
[Dinging, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil holds a banana over Jay’s head, and Jay nods. Nikhil smiles at Appa.
NIKHIL: Hmm. A dose of standing on one leg with a banana on your head should do it.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil puts the banana on Appa’s head.
JAY: Getting better is very serious, Appa.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil nods.
JAY: Now, stand on one leg. Doctor's orders.
[Wobbling]
DESCRIPTION: Appa stands on his left leg, arms outstretched. He looks up at the banana on his head.
APPA: Oh, whoa!
[Jim sighs]
DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Nana holds the remote.
JIM: But The History of Oat Cakes special is on.
[Background sirens wail]
NANA: But how will we know how Detective Detective cracked the case?
JIM: Oat cakes!
[Creaking]
DESCRIPTION: Jim and Nana pull the remote between them.
NANA: Detective Detective!
[Click, the music stops, siren stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil takes the remote and turns off the T.V.
NIKHIL: Sorry, but the T.V. needs a rest now, too.
[Nana and Jim sigh, tense music notes play]
NIKHIL: Appa was right. Their hangriness is getting worse.
JAY: Yeah, it's turned into huffy-puffiness now.
NIKHIL: And there's only one thing to cure huffy-puffiness. The jiggles!
[Boings, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil runs to Jim and Jay runs to Nana. Everyone stands in front of the sofa and wiggles and jiggles.
JAY: Yeah, everybody! People! Get up! Get up.
NANA: I love a jiggle! But what about Detective Detective?
JAY: Don't worry about that, Nana.
NANA: Oh!
[Boing, Nana grunts]
DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps.
JAY: Just get jiggling. Doctor's orders!
[Jim grunts]
NIKHIL: That's it! Jiggle! Jiggle! Jiggle!
[Nana groans]
DESCRIPTION: Nana stops and puts her left hand on her lower back.
APPA: Wahoo-hoo-hoo!
[The music stops, footsteps patter, mug thuds, crunching]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay peer into the kitchen and discover Appa putting a mug on a tray beside the fruit salad. He picks up a second mug from the counter and puts it on the tray. Appa pops fruit salad into his mouth and smiles.
NIKHIL: Uh-oh! Patient Appa has stopped banana balancing on one leg!
[Tense music notes play, whoosh, tense music notes play, Amma hiccups]
DESCRIPTION: In the backyard, Amma kneels on the grass. She picks up a pink potted flower.
JAY: And Patient Amma has stopped star jumping.
[Jim and Nana groan, whoosh, tense music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Nana and Jim sit on the sofa. Jay points at them.
JAY: And you stopped jiggling! Why aren't they listening to us?
[Upbeat music plays, whooshing]
NIKHIL: We need to do our rounds faster! Go, go, go!
[Whistle blares, jumps boing, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In the backyard, Nikhil and Jay stand with their hands on their hips and watch Amma star jump.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Star jump!
[Amma inhales deeply, whimpers]
DESCRIPTION: In the kitchen, Appa puts the banana back on his head.
JAY: On one leg, please.
DESCRIPTION: Appa lifts his right leg and wobbles.
APPA: Whoa.

AMMA, APPA, NANA, AND JIM: Whoa!
[Adults groan, trombone wah wah wahs, Jay sighs, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: The adults stand. In the living room, Jay and Nikhil watch Jim and Nana.
JAY: I think we broke our hospital.
NIKHIL: How can we fix it and make it happy again? Hmm.
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Nikhil stands in a field with his hand on his chin.
NIKHIL: What makes me happy?
[Ding, ball thumps]
DESCRIPTION: An orange ball appears and falls on the grass. Nikhil gently kicks the ball up, then bounces it on top of his feet.
NIKHIL: Yes! Playing with football makes me happy!
[Ding, ball thumps]
DESCRIPTION: A striped pink worm appears.
NIKHIL: Uh, but not with a worm.
[Wobbling]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil shakes his head.
NIKHIL: Eww-wee!
[Popping]
DESCRIPTION: The worm disappears, and a green monster with socks on its head appears and waves its arms.
NIKHIL: Ah! Or a monster!
[Pop]
DESCRIPTION: The monster disappears, and Jay appears.
JAY: Yeah!
[Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil passes the ball to Jay.
NIKHIL: Jay? Yes! Playing with Jay makes me the happiest!
[Chiming, the music ends]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends. In the living room, Nikhil lifts his right hand.
NIKHIL: Actually, if we let our patients do what makes them happy, our hospital will be happy, too.
[Boing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay pops up behind Nikhil.

DESCRIPTION: Nana and Jim both grab the T.V. remote and pull it between them.

[Slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: The remote flies out of Nana and Jim’s hands. Amma chases it and runs into Appa.
AMMA: Whoa.
APPA: Oh!
[Crashing, the music stops, carrom coins rattle, slide whistle, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Amma lies on top of Appa beside a tipped carrom board. Max leaps and lies on Amma’s back.

[Triumphant music plays, everyone laughs]
[Upbeat music plays]

DESCRIPTION: In an animation, the front door of a townhouse opens, and Nikhil smiles. He has short brown hair and brown eyes and wears a red hooded sweater. Inside the house, his little brother, Jay, also has short brown hair and brown eyes. He wears a purple shirt with blue-green trim.
NIKHIL: Hi, I'm Nikhil.
JAY: And I'm Jay!
[Map rustles, boings, plane whooshes, Appa shouts, Amma laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls down a map showing a small boat in the water off the coast of South India. Amma’s face appears. She has chin-length brown hair with a yellow bow. A plane flies to England, and Appa’s face appears. He has short brown hair and a beard. A heart-shaped outline surrounds them. Amma dances, and Appa holds a cat-shaped mug.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay stand back-to-back with their arms crossed. Amma stands in the dining room doorway, smiling.

[Boys giggle, Appa chuckles, slide whistle, jumps boing, mug taps]
DESCRIPTION: Appa picks up a purple mug, and Amma sits at the dining room table. He brings her the mug as Jay chases Nikhil past.
APPA: So, boys, how did the routine check-up go?
JAY: It was great! I love hospitals! The doctors and nurses are the best!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil sits on the stool, and Jay grabs a spoon from the counter.
NIKHIL: Yeah, Appa! Did you know your knee could do this?
JAY: Gentle tap.
[Boing, Nikhil giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay taps Nikhil’s right knee with the spoon, and Nikhil lifts his knee.
NIKHIL: It's a test to check if my knee is working.
JAY: Tap!

DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Jay imagines wearing his butterfly wings, a stethoscope, and a head mirror as he flies over sad-looking stuffies. A robot has a cast on its right foot, a toy duck has a bandaged left wing, Chickpea has an adhesive bandage on its head, Star has a banana on its head, and an elephant stuffy has a thermometer in its mouth.
JAY: Don't worry! Dr. Jay is here!
[Robot whirrs, duck quacks, hearts pop]
DESCRIPTION: Jay adjusts the robot’s antenna and hugs the duck. Hearts surround them.
JAY: Mmm!
[Jay giggles, Star squeaks, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay takes the banana off Star and puts it on Chickpea. Jay sidesteps and takes the thermometer out of the mouth of the elephant.
JAY: Yeah!
[Hearts pop, stuffies vocalize, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Hearts appear and pop over the head of the elephant. Jay flies over the stuffies, and the stuffies wave. The daydream ends and, in the kitchen, Jay looks at Nikhil.
[Light music plays]
JAY: I know! I could be Dr. Jay, and you could be Nurse Nikhil!
[Nikhil gasps]
NIKHIL: Yeah!
[Upbeat music plays, boings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay bounces and pops out from behind the kitchen counter.
JAY: And we can make the happiest hospital ever, ever, ever!
NIKHIL: Ha-ha!
[Hands slap, zap, the music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay high-five.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yes!
NIKHIL: Who's gonna be our first patient? Hmm.
[Whoosh, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay both look around the room, each with their right index finger on their chin.
JAY: Hmm.
[Ding]
DESCRIPTION: Jay looks at Max.
JAY: Uh, ah-ha!
[Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Max lies on her back and waves her paws in the air, smiling. Jay kneels beside her and points at her paws as he counts. Nikhil stands behind Jay, making notes on a clipboard.
JAY: One, two, three, four. Four paws! Check! One tail, nice! And two ears. Lovely!
[Max meows]
JAY: You are definitely a cat!
[Max grumbles]
DESCRIPTION: Max rolls her eyes.
JAY: Now, let's check your tongue, Max. Tongue tester, please, Nurse Nikhil.
[Max meows, slide whistle, suspenseful music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil gives Jay a wooden spoon, and Max flees.
[Unhappy music plays]
NIKHIL: Dr. Jay, we no longer have our first patient.
[Jay gasps, spoon clatters]
DESCRIPTION: Jay drops the spoon and leans forward with his right hand on his face.
JAY: No! Max was our only patient! What do we do?
[Doorbell rings, Nikhil and Jay gasp, whooshing]
NANA: Cooey! Only us!
[Jim chuckles, Nikhil and Jay gasp, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana and Jim stand on the doorstep and wave. Inside, Nikhil and Jay look at each other and raise their arms.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Patients!
JIM AND NANA: Oh?
[Whoosh, slide whistle, chime, drum roll plays]
DESCRIPTION: In the living room, Nana and Jim sit on the sofa, and Nikhil and Jay fist bump. Nikhil gestures at Jay, who stands with his back turned to his grandparents.
NIKHIL: Introducing Dr. Jay!
[Triumphant music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay turns and smiles. He gestures at Nikhil.
JAY: And Nurse Nikhil!
[Fireworks whistle, boom]
NIKHIL AND JAY: At the Nikhil and Jay Happy Hospital!
[Nana claps, the music stops]
NANA: Wahoo! What a fantastic show!
[Nana giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at Nana with narrowed eyes.
JAY: Um, no, Nana.
[Nana and Jim exclaim]
JAY: This is not a show.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil points at Nana.
NIKHIL: It's a real hospital, and you are real patients.
NANA: Oh!
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jim puts his right hand on his left elbow.
JIM: Uh? Well, funnily enough, my elbow has always been dodgy.
[Jim chuckles, Nana murmurs, Nikhil gasps]
NIKHIL: This is an emergency! Our patient needs rest right now!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls Jim back so he lies against the sofa arm.
JIM: Oh, well, if you insist.
[Boing]
DESCRIPTION: Jim puts his right leg on Nana’s lap.
NANA: Oh!
JIM: I'll have a lie down on the sofa. I mean hospital bed.
[Jim and Jay giggle, Jim sighs happily]
DESCRIPTION: Jim rests his head on his left arm.
JIM: That's the ticket.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil rubs Jim’s left arm and lays his cheek against it.
[Mellow music plays]
NIKHIL: That's it. You get nice and comfy. We look after everyone at the Nikhil and Jay Happy Hospital!
[Slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Nana lifts Jim’s leg, then drops it back on her lap as Amma looks into the living room from the dining room doorway.
NANA: Oh!
AMMA: Oh, I see you're in good hands. I'll be in the garden if you need me.
[Hiccups]
AMMA: Oops!
[Amma laughs]
AMMA: Drank my tea too quickly.
[Slide whistle, tense music notes play]
JAY: Oh, no! Amma has a case of the hickety-hups!
[Boings]
DESCRIPTION: Jay follows Amma. Nikhil gives Nana a T.V. remote, then puts his hands on his hips.
NIKHIL: Stay here and rest. You can watch some hospital T.V. while you wait.
[Upbeat music plays]
NANA: Oh, great. We could watch Detective Detective.
JIM: No, The History of Oat Cakes.
[Amma hums, hiccups, soil rustles]
DESCRIPTION: In the backyard, Amma holds two flowerpots which bounce in her hands as she hiccups.
AMMA: Oh.
[Popping, upbeat music plays, Amma hums, jumps boing, Amma gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Amma puts the pots on the grass and picks up a potted plant. Jay and Nikhil peek through the patio doorway, then Jay runs to Amma and peers at her tummy.
AMMA: Oh, Chellam. What are you doing?
JAY: Getting rid of your hickety-hups.
[Amma’s tummy gurgles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay cups his hand by his right ear.
JAY: Uh-oh. Nurse Nikhil, please pass me my boom-boom chest thingy.
[Slide whistle, boing, whoosh, the music stops, thumps]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil gives Jay an empty pot, and Jay holds it against Amma’s tummy, then her thigh.
JAY: Uh, I can't hear anything.
NIKHIL: Mmm.
[Nikhil gasps]
NIKHIL: Boom-boom, boom-boom.
[Jay gasps]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil runs to Jay and stands behind him.
NIKHIL SHOUTS: Boom! Boom! Boomtity-boom!
[Amma gasps, wobbles, thumps, sighs, hiccups, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Amma falls backwards.
JAY: Oops. Uh-oh. The hickety-hups are worse than we thought.
[Amma hiccups]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay stand over Amma, looking down. Jay crosses his arms.
NIKHIL: Hmm. The best cure for the hickety-hups is the jumps!
JAY: Excellent idea, Nurse Nikhil.

DESCRIPTION: Appa stands in front of the stove with the fruit. He looks back over his left shoulder at Nikhil and Jay.
APPA: Huh?
[The music stops]
NIKHIL: There's only one cure.
[Boing, wobbling]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil lifts his left leg. He waves his arms as he wobbles, then straightens up, bending his left knee and moving the foot against his right leg.
NIKHIL: You need to stand on one leg right now, or the fruity-rushies will get worse!
[Light music plays]
APPA: I would, but I'm making my specialty fruit salad for Nana and Jim. They're getting a bit hangry.
[Appa chuckles]
NIKHIL: Hangry? Is that a real word?
[Tummy gurgles, thunder booms]
APPA: Hungry plus angry, hangry.
[Nikhil and Jay laugh, upbeat music plays]
NIKHIL: Nana and Jim are in the Nikhil and Jay Happy Hospital.
[Boing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps, raising his arms.
JAY: We'll look after them. Just like we're looking after you! On one leg, please.
[Appa sighs, boing]

APPA: Whoa!
NIKHIL: Wonderful work, Dr. Jay.

[Whooshing, Jay giggles]
DESCRIPTION: Jay grabs the clipboard and scribbles with a green crayon.

NIKHIL: Huh?

DESCRIPTION: Appa wobbles and loses his balance. Nikhil and Jay watch him fall.

NANA: But how will we know how Detective Detective cracked the case?

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil takes the remote and turns off the T.V.
NIKHIL: Sorry, but the T.V. needs a rest now, too.
[Nana and Jim sigh, tense music notes play]
NIKHIL: Appa was right. Their hangriness is getting worse.
JAY: Yeah, it's turned into huffy-puffiness now.
NIKHIL: And there's only one thing to cure huffy-puffiness. The jiggles!
[Boings, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil runs to Jim and Jay runs to Nana. Everyone stands in front of the sofa and wiggles and jiggles.
JAY: Yeah, everybody! People! Get up! Get up.
NANA: I love a jiggle! But what about Detective Detective?
JAY: Don't worry about that, Nana.
NANA: Oh!
[Boing, Nana grunts]
DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps.
JAY: Just get jiggling. Doctor's orders!
[Jim grunts]
NIKHIL: That's it! Jiggle! Jiggle! Jiggle!
[Nana groans]
DESCRIPTION: Nana stops and puts her left hand on her lower back.

[The music stops, footsteps patter, mug thuds, crunching]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay peer into the kitchen and discover Appa putting a mug on a tray beside the fruit salad. He picks up a second mug from the counter and puts it on the tray. Appa pops fruit salad into his mouth and smiles.
NIKHIL: Uh-oh! Patient Appa has stopped banana balancing on one leg!
[Tense music notes play, whoosh, tense music notes play, Amma hiccups]
DESCRIPTION: In the backyard, Amma kneels on the grass. She picks up a pink potted flower.
JAY: And Patient Amma has stopped star jumping.
[Jim and Nana groan, whoosh, tense music notes play]
