NIKHIL: Here's a little story about where our family's from.

NIKHIL AND JAY SINGING: It starts in South India with Amma, our mom. She caught a plane to England and met our dad, Appa!

[Mr. Awan chuckling]
DESCRIPTION: Amma turns her carrot microphone toward Mr. Awan.
MR. AWAN: I reckon I've grown my tallest carrot yet. I can feel it in my fingers and my elbows. I'm gonna call it…
[Nikhil and Jay gasping]
MR. AWAN: Carrot Longlegs!
APPA: Carrot Longlegs? Eh, we'll see about that.
[Mr. Awan chuckling]
DESCRIPTION: Appa and Mr. Awan narrow their gazes at each other.
[Amma sighing]
AMMA: Your Appa and Mr. Awan have been competing for years.
[Nikhil and Jay gasping]
AMMA: Every time they do one of these carrot challenges, we end up eating carrots for days!
[Amma sighing]
APPA AND MR. AWAN: Huh?
[Nikhil and Jay giggling]
DESCRIPTION: Amma holds up her carrot microphone.
AMMA: Right, biggest carrot wins. Ready, steady, dig!
[Whistle blaring]
DESCRIPTION: Appa and Mr. Awan run off with their shovels. Mr. Awan leaves with a bucket, and Appa leaves with a basket.
[Appa and Mr. Awan chuckling]
NIKHIL: Jay, we need to make Appa win.
JAY: How?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay join Appa by a box garden next to a shed with a yellow door and watch him work.
APPA: Ooh!
DESCRIPTION: Appa pulls a tiny carrot out of his garden.
[Appa chuckling]
NIKHIL AND JAY: Uh...
NIKHIL: We need to find a big carrot for Appa to win.
JAY: The biggest carrot ever, ever, ever. Hm.
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Jay wears a pink bunny ear headband in a garden.

DESCRIPTION: Jay hops across the garden like a bunny.

DESCRIPTION: Jay bounces away in the other direction. Elsewhere in the allotment, Amma stands by a shed with a purple door. Appa pulls another tiny carrot out of his garden and frowns.
APPA: Oh.
DESCRIPTION: Appa tosses the carrot over his shoulder into Amma’s hands.
[Amma gasping]
AMMA: Small carrot, another small carrot.
DESCRIPTION: Amma drops small carrots into Appa’s basket.
AMMA: Oh, even smaller carrot.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil joins Amma.
NIKHIL: How's the big carrot challenge going?
AMMA: Ha! Not so big. Look.
DESCRIPTION: Jay looks at the small carrots in the basket.
NIKHIL: Uh... Hmm.
DESCRIPTION: Elsewhere in the allotment, Mr. Awan holds a medium-sized carrot in front of his face and briefly closes his eyes.
MR. AWAN: I am the carrot. Me and the carrot are one. You're the carrot –
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil appears behind Mr. Awan.
NIKHIL: Mr. Awan?
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan startles and drops the carrot.
[Mr. Awan chuckling]
MR. AWAN: Zing! Hey! How you doing, lad?
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan kneels beside a box garden by the purple door shed. He sets the carrot aside and waves at Nikhil.
NIKHIL: Mr. Awan, have you found Carrot Longlegs yet?
MR. AWAN: Oh, you can't rush greatness, Nikhil. Besides, this carrot is gonna be so long, I'm gonna need to be at the top of my digging game.
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan jumps to his feet and does jumping jacks.
[Mr. Awan grunting]
[Nikhil giggling]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil walks away. Elsewhere in the allotment, Jay hops like a bunny past a garden. Nikhil wanders over.
JAY: Boing, boing, boing, boing, boing!
NIKHIL: Any luck?
JAY: Nope. How's Appa getting on?
NIKHIL: Uh, I've got good news and bad news and good news.
JAY: Huh?
NIKHIL: The good news is Appa has dug up a lot of carrots.
JAY: Yay!
NIKHIL: But the bad news is they're all tiny, mini, super small!
JAY: What's the other good news, then?
NIKHIL: Mr. Awan's just doing press-ups and talking to himself.
DESCRIPTION: By the purple door shed, Mr. Awan does push-ups against an empty clay pot.
MR. AWAN: I am the carrot. I am the carrot.
NIKHIL: He hasn't even started yet.
JAY: And then if we find a big carrot for Appa…
NIKHIL: Appa will win. Yes!
JAY: This is a job for two bunnies!
DESCRIPTION: Jay jumps and high-gives Nikhil. Together, Nikhil and Jay hop around like bunnies with their elbows bent, their arms tucked to their sides and their hands bent forward.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Boing, boing, boing!
NIKHIL: Mission big carrot, go, go, go!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil hops around a watering can. Jay hops around a coiled garden hose.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Boing, boing, boing, boing.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hop toward a box garden.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Boing, boing.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay pause next to the box garden with carrot tops sticking out of the soil.
JAY: Ooh!
DESCRIPTION: Jay pulls a small carrot out of the garden.
NIKHIL: Nope. Too small.
DESCRIPTION: Jay drops the carrot and continues through the allotment, hopping like a bunny with Nikhil.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Boing, boing.
DESCRIPTION: By the yellow door shed, Nikhil and Jay hop past another carrot garden.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pauses and looks at the garden.
NIKHIL: Ooh!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls a tiny carrot out of the garden.
NIKHIL: Ha-ah!
DESCRIPTION: Jay joins Nikhil.
[Nikhil sighing]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil drops the carrot.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Nah.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay continue hopping around the allotment like bunnies.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay spot the orange top of a large carrot sticking out of a box garden.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Whoa!
JAY: Check out that carrot!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run over to the garden.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls on the large carrot.
[Nikhil grunting]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls on the carrot, and Jay pulls on Nikhil.

DESCRIPTION: The carrot remains stuck in the garden.
[Nikhil and Jay sighing]
DESCRIPTION: Max pops up from inside a nearby wheelbarrow.
[Max meowing]
NIKHIL: Yay, Max! Come and help us!
DESCRIPTION: Max leaps out of the wheelbarrow and puts her paws around Jay.
[Max meowing]
NIKHIL: Come on, Jay. Come on, Max. Pull!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil, Jay and Max pull.
[Nikhil and Jay grunting]
[Max meowing]
DESCRIPTION: A giant carrot pops out of the garden. Nikhil, Jay and Max fall.
NIKHIL AND JAY YELPING: Whoa!
[Max yowling]
[Nikhil and Jay grunting]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil, Jay and Max lie in a pile on the ground. Nikhil holds the giant carrot.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Wow!
[Jay and Max giggling]
[Max meowing]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil, Jay and Max get up. They leave the carrot on the ground. Jay high-fives Nikhil and Max.
JAY: Ya!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay pick up the giant carrot.
NIKHIL: Jaldi, jaldi! Let's get this to Appa's patch got before anyone sees us!
DESCRIPTION: Jay nods. Nikhil and Jay turn in different directions.

NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay try again and pull the carrot in different directions.
[Nikhil and Jay grunting]

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil nods to his right. Jay follows Nikhil’s lead, and they walk away with the carrot. By the yellow door shed, Amma holds up a small carrot.
[Amma sighing]
AMMA CALLING OUT: Anyone fancy a cuppa?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay startle.
[Nikhil and Jay gasping]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay drop the carrot.
[Jay helping]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay lie in front of the carrot and hide it with their bodies. Mr. Awan steps forward.
[Mr. Awan sighing]
MR. AWAN: Yeah. I could do with a break.
DESCRIPTION: Appa joins Mr. Awan.
APPA: Yeah!
DESCRIPTION: Appa and Mr. Awan narrow their gazes at each other, then walk away. Nikhil and Jay smile as Appa and Mr. Awan walk by, then relax.
[Appa and Mr. Awan chuckling]

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run off. They quickly return with a large cardboard box and place it over the carrot. The end of the carrot sticks out from under the box.
JAY LOUDLY: Ta-da!
[Nikhil shushing]
NIKHIL WHISPERING: It's got to be a surprise.
DESCRIPTION: Jay kicks the carrot under the box. Elsewhere in the allotment, Amma, Appa and Mr. Awan hold mugs.
[Amma, Appa, Mr. Awan sighing]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hop like bunnies around Amma, Appa and Mr. Awan.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Boing, boing, boing! Boing, boing, boing!
DESCRIPTION: Appa swirls his tea.
APPA: Hmm. You, uh, dug up your Carrot Longlegs yet then, huh?
[Mr. Awan chuckling]
MR. AWAN: You'll be totally like, "What!?" when you see it.
[Appa chuckling]
APPA: You can't dig up what you didn't grow, mate.
MR. AWAN: Oh, Carrot Longlegs is very real, my friend. She's over there by the wheelbarrow. Be prepared to witness carrot history.
DESCRIPTION: By the yellow door shed, Max sits between Nikhil and Jay.
[Nikhil and Jay gasping]
NIKHIL: Oh, no! We dug up Carrot Longlegs!
[Dramatic music briefly plays]
[Jay gasping]
JAY: Uh-oh.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil, Jay and Max lean over the hole left by the giant carrot, Carrot Longlegs.
JAY: Mr. Awan is going to be so sad. He was really excited about it!
NIKHIL: Hmm.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay stand.
NIKHIL: Hmm. How do we put Carrot Longlegs back?
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Nikhil stands in an underground tunnel with two worms. The worms wiggle through the tunnel from a garden to Carrot Longlegs.
NIKHI: Ewie.
[Worms squeaking]
DESCRIPTION: The worms take Carrot Longlegs out from under the cardboard box and back to the garden.
[Worms squeaking]
[Worms chuckling]

NIKHIL: Huh?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil looks down.
NIKHIL CHEERING: Yeah!
DESCRIPTION: In the daydream, Nikhil rides a dinosaur carrying Carrot Longlegs on a string between its teeth. The dinosaur lowers Carrot Longlegs toward the garden, then tosses it into its mouth. The dinosaur eats Carrot Longlegs.
[Dinosaur munching]
[Carrot crunching]
[Nikhil gasping]
[Dinosaur chattering]
NIKHIL: Oh!
DESCRIPTION: In the daydream, Carrot Longlegs lies next to a shed. Nikhil stands behind it and raises an eyebrow.
NIKHIL: Hmm. Ah-ha!
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil carries Carrot Longlegs on his back.
[Nikhil grunting]

AMMA: Hmm.

DESCRIPTION: Max lands against Appa’s chest. Appa quickly wraps his arms around her.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay quickly move the Carrot Longlegs box.
APPA WAILING: Let go, Max! Ah!
DESCRIPTION: By the purple door shed, Mr. Awan stands with his shovel and does jumping jacks.
[Mr. Awan breathing sharply]
MR. AWAN: Okay, let's do it!
DESCRIPTION: Max lies in Appa’s arms. Appa smiles.
[Max meowing]

DESCRIPTION: Max grins and leaps out of Appa’s arms toward Mr. Awan.
[Max meowing]

DESCRIPTION: Max lands against Mr. Awan’s chest. She grips Mr. Awan’s vest with her claws.
MR. AWAN: Hey, Max!
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan stumbles, then falls.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist bump. Max appears between Nikhil and Jay and joins in with her paws.

[Mr. Awan grunting and groaning]
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan sits up holding his head and looks around.
MR. AWAN: Hm.
DESCRIPTION: Later, Amma stands by Mr. Awan’s garden with her carrot microphone.
AMMA: This is it! The moment all carrot fans have been waiting for. Mr. Awan is about to dig up the big, massive, ginormous Carrot Longlegs! Or is he?
DESCRIPTION: Appa, Nikhil and Jay stand beside Amma. Mr. Awan walks over. He smiles and poses with his hands on his hips.
APPA, NIKHIL AND JAY CHEERING: Yeah!
[Nikhil and Jay giggling]
MR. AWAN: Here we go. One. Two. Three!
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan squats beside the garden and grabs onto Carrot Longlegs. He easily pulls it out of the garden and falls, then bumps into Amma, who bumps into Appa.
[Mr. Awan, Amma and Appa yelping]
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan, Amma and Appa fall toward Nikhil and Jay.
[Nikhil and Jay yelping]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run away. Mr. Awan, Amma and Appa hit the ground. Amma holds up her thumb.
AMMA: I'm okay!
APPA: Me, too!
MR. AWAN: Yeah.
DESCRIPTION: Appa and Mr. Awan hold up their thumbs. Max raises her paw.
[Max meowing]
DESCRIPTION: On the ground, Mr. Awan holds Carrot Longlegs.
MR. AWAN: Oh, you're even more beautiful than I imagined!
DESCRIPTION: Orange hearts pop up around Mr. Awan. Mr. Awan stands, hugging Carrot Longlegs.
MR. AWAN: I told you.
AMMA AND APPA: Oh, wow.
[Nikhil and Jay giggling]
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan takes a picture of himself holding Carrot Longlegs with his phone.
MR. AWAN: Whoa!
APPA: Well done, mate. It really is a whopper!
DESCRIPTION: Amma nods.
APPA: Gotta say, I'm surprised how easily you were able to dig it up, though.
MR. AWAN: Just two things I like to call hard work and preparation, and not to mention my carrot diet. Try it.
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan winks.
[Jay gasping]
JAY: Boing.
DESCRIPTION: Jay hops away.
NIKHIL QUIETLY: Jay!
JAY: Boing!
DESCRIPTION: Jay hops over to Mr. Awan.
JAY: And maybe…
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pops up from behind a bush and waves his arms.
JAY: Oh!
DESCRIPTION: Jay puts his hands over his mouth.
MR. AWAN: Uh, maybe what, Jay?
[Nikhil gasping]
[Nikhil shushing]
DESCRIPTION: Jay uncovers his mouth.
JAY: Maybe the bunnies helped you!
MR. AWAN: On our allotment?! Bunnies?!
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan quickly looks around. Jay covers his mouth. Nikhil joins Jay.
[Nikhil chuckling awkwardly]
NIKHIL: Jay was just joking.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil puts his arm around Jay. Jay lowers his hands and smiles awkwardly.
[Nikhil chuckling nervously]
DESCRIPTION: Appa joins Nikhil and Jay.
APPA: Hmm. There might be two bunnies in our allotment.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hide their hands behind their backs.
[Jay giggling]
DESCRIPTION: Max leaps into Amma’s arms.
[Max meowing]
AMMA: Huh? Make that three, including a bunny cat.
[Jay chuckling]
MR. AWAN: Did you three dig up Carrot Longlegs before I did?
NIKHIL AND JAY: Uh...
[Max Meowing]
NIKHIL: We didn't know it was yours.
JAY: We dug it out so Appa could win.
NIKHIL: Then we put it back again when we realized it was Carrot Longlegs.
JAY: Because that's the right thing to do, right?
DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa put their arms around Nikhil and Jay. Purple hearts pop up around the family.
AMMA AND APPA: Aww.
[Appa sniffling]
APPA: You two…
[Appa sniffling]
APPA: …tried to help me like that.
DESCRIPTION: Appa’s eyes fill with tears.
[Appa sniffling]
[Appa chuckling]
DESCRIPTION: Appa hugs Nikhil, Jay, Amma and Max.
APPA: Thanks.
MR. Awan: Aww!
APPA: You win this time, mate.
MR. AWAN: Boys, thank you for making Carrot Longlegs super easy to dig up, but guess what? I grew Carrot Longlegs from the seed packet you gave me for my birthday, man.
APPA: Huh?
AMMA: Hmm. So, the seeds were from Appa; Mr. Awan grew it, and these three naughty bunnies dug it up.
[Nikhil and Jay gasping]
[Max meowing]
AMMA: What a team effort! And, therefore, I declare that the Spuds and Spades Carrot Challenge has ended.
[Appa and Mr. Awan laughing]

DESCRIPTION: Amma holds up her carrot microphone.
AMMA: Right, biggest carrot wins. Ready, steady, dig!
[Whistle blaring]
DESCRIPTION: Appa and Mr. Awan run off with their shovels. Mr. Awan leaves with a bucket, and Appa leaves with a basket.

NIKHIL: Jay, we need to make Appa win.
JAY: How?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay join Appa by a box garden next to a shed with a yellow door and watch him work.

DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan startles and drops the carrot.

DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan kneels beside a box garden by the purple door shed. He sets the carrot aside and waves at Nikhil.
NIKHIL: Mr. Awan, have you found Carrot Longlegs yet?
MR. AWAN: Oh, you can't rush greatness, Nikhil. Besides, this carrot is gonna be so long, I'm gonna need to be at the top of my digging game.
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan jumps to his feet and does jumping jacks.

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil walks away. Elsewhere in the allotment, Jay hops like a bunny past a garden. Nikhil wanders over.

JAY: Nope. How's Appa getting on?
NIKHIL: Uh, I've got good news and bad news and good news.
JAY: Huh?
NIKHIL: The good news is Appa has dug up a lot of carrots.

NIKHIL: But the bad news is they're all tiny, mini, super small!
JAY: What's the other good news, then?
NIKHIL: Mr. Awan's just doing press-ups and talking to himself.
DESCRIPTION: By the purple door shed, Mr. Awan does push-ups against an empty clay pot.
MR. AWAN: I am the carrot. I am the carrot.
NIKHIL: He hasn't even started yet.
JAY: And then if we find a big carrot for Appa…

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay lie in front of the carrot and hide it with their bodies. Mr. Awan steps forward.

DESCRIPTION: Appa, Nikhil and Jay stand beside Amma. Mr. Awan walks over. He smiles and poses with his hands on his hips.
APPA, NIKHIL AND JAY CHEERING: Yeah!

MR. AWAN: Here we go. One. Two. Three!
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan squats beside the garden and grabs onto Carrot Longlegs. He easily pulls it out of the garden and falls, then bumps into Amma, who bumps into Appa.
[Mr. Awan, Amma and Appa yelping]
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan, Amma and Appa fall toward Nikhil and Jay.

NIKHIL: We didn't know it was yours.
JAY: We dug it out so Appa could win.
NIKHIL: Then we put it back again when we realized it was Carrot Longlegs.
JAY: Because that's the right thing to do, right?
DESCRIPTION: Amma and Appa put their arms around Nikhil and Jay. Purple hearts pop up around the family.
AMMA AND APPA: Aww.
[Appa sniffling]
APPA: You two…
[Appa sniffling]
APPA: …tried to help me like that.
DESCRIPTION: Appa’s eyes fill with tears.

DESCRIPTION: Appa hugs Nikhil, Jay, Amma and Max.
APPA: Thanks.
MR. Awan: Aww!
APPA: You win this time, mate.
MR. AWAN: Boys, thank you for making Carrot Longlegs super easy to dig up, but guess what? I grew Carrot Longlegs from the seed packet you gave me for my birthday, man.
APPA: Huh?
AMMA: Hmm. So, the seeds were from Appa; Mr. Awan grew it, and these three naughty bunnies dug it up.
[Nikhil and Jay gasping]
[Max meowing]
AMMA: What a team effort! And, therefore, I declare that the Spuds and Spades Carrot Challenge has ended.
[Appa and Mr. Awan laughing]
AMMA: Once and for all.
APPA MR. AWAN: Huh? Why?
AMMA: Please stop growing carrots!
[Amma speaking Tamil]
AMMA: I can't eat anymore! Roasted carrots, carrot halwa, carrot sambal, carrot salad, carrot cake.
[Everyone laughing]
APPA: Talking of eating, I am starving.
DESCRIPTION: Appa rubs his belly.
[Stomach rumbling]
[Mr. Awan chuckling]
MR. AWAN: Good job I made some carrot soup then with what's left of last year's carrots.
[Amma chuckling weakly]
MR. AWAN: Come on!
DESCRIPTION: Mr. Awan spreads his arms. Carrot Longlegs slips from his hands and over his shoulder.
MR. AWAN YELPING: Ah!
[Crashing]
DESCRIPTION: Carrom board coins fall around Mr. Awan.
MR. AWAN: Ooh.
DESCRIPTION: A carrom board leans against Mr. Awan’s box garden.
