Descriptive Transcript

[Opening credits] “Come On and Play. Sung by Brady Peeti, George Fowler.”

[Slow, piano ballad]

DESCRIPTION: A spotlight illuminates Deborah the Dragon singing on stage in a musical number. Deborah the Dragon is a drag queen with a voluminous purple wig, blue scales, tall horns, glittering wings, long nails, and gold jewelry. As Deborah sings, the lyrics are illuminated in pink font.

DEBORAH [singing]: Treasure. I've been thinking 'bout my treasure. Glitter's bringing me no pleasure. Not anymore. Lonely. What good are gilded riches? When my only one true wish is somebody to share with me?

DESCRIPTION: Beside Deborah, two more drag queens and a jester dance and sing with her. Princess Pania of Paeroa wears a pink ball gown, a tall, cone-shaped headdress, and has long, billowing sleeves. Beside Pania is Anita the Knight, who wears glittering, silver armour, a long, blonde wig, and high heels. They are joined by Jesse the Jester, who wears a blue-and-red harlequin outfit with bells on their shoes and hat.

DEBORAH [singing]: Now I know

ENSEMBLE: Go on, tell us

DEBORAH [singing]: That gold isn't wealth

ENSEMBLE: Yeah

DEBORAH [singing]: If I win or lose

ENSEMBLE: Then who wins?

DEBORAH [singing]: I've cheated myself. No more games

ENSEMBLE: No more games

DEBORAH [singing]: I swear I'll play fair

ENSEMBLE: You swear?

DEBORAH [singing]: 'Cause life's no fun

ENSEMBLE: No fun at all

DEBORAH [singing]: When you're solitaire

[Upbeat music]

DESCRIPTION: Deborah and the ensemble dance across the stage and sing.

DEBORAH [singing]: Come on and play. Come on and play. Come on, let's have some fun. Come on and play. Come on and play. There's plenty for everyone.

DESCRIPTION: Suddenly, Mr. Hugo walks on stage. He is dressed like a Renaissance King, wearing a fur cape, a tulle neck scarf, a golden crown, and a tall wig.

MR. HUGO [rapping]: Deb told her friends that they can't play. Y'all better leave. Now she knows it's best to share. Yeah, she was being naive. I'm dragon-ing on and on, but my point is in the end. Board games aren't so boring when you're playing with your friends.

DESCRIPTION: Mr. Hugo joins the ensemble and dances with Deborah, Pania, Anita, and Jesse.

DEBORAH [singing]: Come on and play. Come on and play. Come on, let's have some fun. Come on and play. Come on and play. There's plenty for everyone. Come on and play!

[Musical number ends]
