Soccer Drill Passing
Descriptive Transcript
[Upbeat music plays, background whistle]
DESCRIPTION: On an indoor hard court, T.V.O. Kids host Gabrielle stands beside Coach Ann-Merrie. Gabrielle has short brown hair and wears a purple T.V.O. Kids t-shirt. Coach Ann-Merrie has long brown hair and wears a blue jacket with white stripes on the sleeves over a black shirt. On the other side of a small barrier behind them, a small group of people plays basketball.
GABRIELLE: I'm here on the field with Coach Ann-Merrie, and we're working on some soccer drills. What's the drill this time?
COACH ANN-MERRIE: Today is passing. Soccer isn't a solo sport; it's about sharing the ball.
GABRIELLE: Okay, so how do we do this?
COACH ANN-MERRIE: So, you want to aim the inside of your foot at your teammate and follow through.
GABRIELLE: Okay.
DESCRIPTION: Coach Ann-Merrie gently passes the ball to Gabrielle, tapping it with the inside of her foot. They pass it back and forth.
GABRIELLE: Okay. I understand how that works.
COACH ANN-MERRIE: Here we go.
GABRIELLE: So why do we practice our passing?
COACH ANN-MERRIE: Because accuracy matters. So, if your teammate is there and they could maybe score…
[Hand gently slaps]
DESCRIPTION: Coach Ann-Merrie clasps her hands.
COACH ANN-MERRIE: You want to be able to get the ball to them without it getting intercepted by the other team.
DESCRIPTION: Gabrielle nods.
GABRIELLE: Okay, I see how that works. And it also can you help your teammates score, right?
[Background whistle, basketball thumps]
COACH ANN-MERRIE: Exactly. If your teammate has a chance to score and you get the ball to them, then they can score. But if you don't make a good pass, then they might not be able to score that goal.
GABRIELLE: And just like in life, teamwork and passing are always important.
DESCRIPTION: The coach waves.
GABRIELLE: Thanks, T.V.O. Kids, and I hope you have fun practicing your passing. Let's try it again.
[Ball thumps]
DESCRIPTION: Gabrielle and Coach Ann-Merrie pass the soccer ball back and forth in front of a net.
GABRIELLE: Okay.
COACH ANN-MERRIE: There we go.
GABRIELLE: We're cooking! Nice.
