Coach Ann-Merrie has long brown hair and wears a blue jacket with white stripes on the sleeves over a black shirt. Video footage shows Coach Ann-Merrie kicking a soccer ball into a net at one end of the court.

GABRIELLE: All right, T.V.O. Kids, before any soccer game or practice, players always have to warm up. And I'm here with Coach Ann-Merrie to show you how it works.

COACH ANN-MERRIE: Warming up helps your body get ready to move and keeps you safe from injuries.

GABRIELLE: Okay, so this isn't just about going fast, it's about getting loose, right?

DESCRIPTION: Coach Ann-Merrie and Gabrielle jog on the spot. Gabrielle lifts her left knee to her stomach, places her hands around it, then repeats with her right knee.

COACH ANN-MERRIE: Exactly. We start with light movements, like jogging on the spot, arm swings, gentle stretches, just enough to wake up your muscles.

DESCRIPTION: Gabrielle wiggles beside Coach Ann-Merrie, who smiles.

GABRIELLE: Oh! You know what, I feel like my body's already warming up!

COACH ANN-MERRIE: And that's the goal.

DESCRIPTION: Gabrielle nods.

COACH ANN-MERRIE: When your body's ready, you feel warm, you play better, and you feel more confident.

[Background whistle blows]

GABRIELLE: Okay, okay. So, can you, Coach Ann-Merrie, give me a super-secret stretch you give your teams to help you get really loose and perhaps win the game?

[Rapid footsteps patter]

DESCRIPTION: Coach Ann-Merrie and Gabrielle run quickly in place, then hop in place.

COACH ANN-MERRIE: So, my two favourites are fast feet or quick hops.

GABRIELLE: Quick hops.

COACH ANN-MERRIE: That's it. All done.

GABRIELLE: Those are fun! So, before you run on to the field, or even just play for fun, don't forget to warm up like a soccer player. Have fun!
