DESCRIPTION: In an animation, the front door of a townhouse opens, and Nikhil smiles. He has short brown hair and brown eyes and wears a red hooded sweater. Inside the house, his little brother, Jay, also has short brown hair and brown eyes. He wears a purple shirt with blue-green trim.
NIKHIL: Hi, I'm Nikhil.
JAY: And I'm Jay!
[Map rustles, boings, plane whooshes, Appa shouts, Amma laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil pulls down a map showing a small boat in the water off the coast of South India. Amma’s face appears. She has chin-length brown hair with a yellow bow. A plane flies to England, and Appa’s face appears. He has short brown hair and a beard. A heart-shaped outline surrounds them. Amma dances, and Appa holds a cat-shaped mug.
[Song] Here's a little story about where our family's from. It starts in South India with Amma, our mom. She caught a plane to England and met our dad, Appa. She loves to dance, and he makes the best cuppa. Oh. And then we came along. Oh. And this is our song.

[Chimes, coins rattle, rocket ship whooshes]
DESCRIPTION: They high-five and daydream about riding coins on a carrom board. In outer space, they peer through the window of a rocket ship.
[Song] We both love to dream. We can shoot a carrom pocket. Yeah, or blast off in a rocket. We make the greatest team.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist-bump.
[Needle scratches a record, slide whistle]
NIKHIL: Wait.
JAY: What?
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hold a picture of their grandparents, Ammamma and Thatha. Ammamma has short black hair and wears a yellow shirt and a blue saree. Thatha has short white hair and wears a yellow jacket, a white shirt, and eyeglasses on a chain around his neck.
NIKHIL: There's Ammamma and Thatha.
[Jim and Nana exclaim]
DESCRIPTION: Jim and Nana stand behind Nikhil and Jay. Jim has short brown hair and holds a tray of food. He wears a green shirt and brown pants. Nana holds her lollipop traffic sign turned red.

JAY: We're coming to find you.
[Chiming, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: In the dining room, Appa and Amma sit at the table. Amma holds a notebook, and Appa sits with a lime green bag on the table in front of him.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Found you!
[Max meows, parents chuckle]
AMMA AND APPA: Morning, boys.
[Bag rustles]
DESCRIPTION: Appa smiles.
APPA: And talking of great finds, I found some right treasures at the charity shop yesterday.
[Nikhil gasps]
JAY: Treasures?!
[Rustling, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Appa reaches into the bag and takes out a bowl with an illustration of fruit on the side and a pink cake tin.
APPA: Yup. I got this bowl, a new cake tin, and a new perfume called…
DESCRIPTION: Appa takes a perfume bottle out of the bag and poses, waggling his eyebrows as he winks.
APPA, ECHOING: Calamity.
[Amma hums]
DESCRIPTION: Amma draws on the notebook.
APPA: Hm.
[Amma chuckles, the music stops, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Appa leans over the notebook, and Max jumps on the table and rubs against Amma.
[Amma sniffs, tense, music plays, Amma sneezes, Max yowls, slide whistle, boys giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps and lands in Jay’s arms.
APPA: Aw, bless you.
[Parents chuckle]
AMMA: Thanks.
[Max purrs, Amma sniffles, tense music plays, Amma sneezes, Max yowls, meows, Amma sneezes, sniffs]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps back on the table, and Amma pets her. Amma sneezes, and Max jumps onto the floor beside the boys.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Bless you!
[Upbeat music plays]
NIKHIL: You've got the sneezies, Amma.
JAY: Ginormous sneezies.
AMMA: Don't worry, chellam. Something's just tickling my nose.
APPA: Hmm.
[Tense music plays, Amma sniffles]
DESCRIPTION: Appa and Amma smile at each other, and Max jumps on the table.
APPA: Incoming!
[Boys shout, Amma sneezes, Amma chuckles, the music stops, boys shout, giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Appa lifts his arms, and the boys run away and stop in the hallway.
NIKHIL: Hm, this needs investigating!
DESCRIPTION: Jay smiles broadly and nods.
NIKHIL: Why does Amma have the sneezies?
[Mellow music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Nikhil holds his hand to his chin.
NIKHIL: Hm. Who done it? Oh!
[Slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil picks up a magnifying glass.
NIKHIL: What's the first clue?
[Creak]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil peers at Amma’s mug through the magnifying glass.
NIKHIL: Amma was drinking from the mug. Is it you, mug? Tell me the truth.
[Slide whistles]
DESCRIPTION: The mug turns back and forth, imitating shaking a head “no.”
NIKHIL: Hm.
[Creaking]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil peers at Amma’s notebook through the magnifying glass.
NIKHIL: Amma was writing in a notebook. Is it you, notebook? Did you give Amma the sneezies?
[Whoosh, thud]
DESCRIPTION: The notebook stands and shakes, like a shaking head, then lies flat.
NIKHIL: Then what made Amma sneeze?
[Max meows, Nikhil gasps, Max sniffs, objects sneeze, Nikhil gasps, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: A giant-sized Max approaches and sniffs the mug. The mug and the notebook bounce as they both sneeze. Nikhil’s eyes widen.
NIKHIL: No!
[Chiming]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends and, in the hallway, Nikhil turns to Jay.
NIKHIL: Actually, I know why Amma's got the sneezies. You won't believe this.
JAY: Jaldi, jaldi! Tell me!
NIKHIL: I think it's Max!
[Boys gasp, dramatic music plays, Jay whimpers]
NIKHIL: Every time Max came close, Amma sneezed.
[Jay gasps]
JAY: Oh, dear.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In the dining room, Amma looks at the tablet, with Nana on the screen.
NANA: Oh, don't worry, pet. I know what to do for the sneezies.
[Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Max walks to the tablet.
NANA: Max, coming for a nuggle, are we?
AMMA: Ah, it's just a tickly nose. I'll be fine soon.
NANA: No arguments! I'll be over right away to take care of everything, and Max, you don't go anywhere!
[Nikhil and Jay gasp, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look through the dining room doorway.
NANA: I'm coming for you.
[Jay gasps, tense music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay grabs Nikhil’s left hand with both his hands. Nikhil puts his other hand on Jay’s shoulder.
JAY: Is Nana going to take Max away?
NIKHIL: She wouldn't, would she?
[Doorbell rings, Nikhil and Jay gasp, door clicks, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Appa opens the door, and Nana walks in.
NANA: Cooey!
[Squeak]
DESCRIPTION: Appa hugs Nana.
APPA: Wow, that was, uh, super jaldi, jaldi, mum. Thanks for coming.
NANA: That's alright.
[Ding]
DESCRIPTION: Nana’s eyes widen.
NANA: Ooh! You smell, em, different. Like an old leather sofa, covered in coffee spills.
[The music stops]
APPA: Ah, thanks, Mum. It's called…
[Light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Appa poses, waggling his eyebrows as he winks.
APPA, ECHOING: Calamity.
[Nana sighs, upbeat music plays footsteps tap]
DESCRIPTION: Nana walks towards the dining room, and Appa follows her.
NANA: Right, got a job to do. Nana to the rescue.
[The music stops]
NIKHIL: How did Nana get here so quickly?
JAY: She must have flown on a super-fast lollipop stick.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In the kitchen, Nikhil and Jay walk to Nana, who stands by a counter. Appa stands behind the counter.
NANA: There you are, my lovelies.
[Squeak]
DESCRIPTION: Nana hugs the boys.
NANA: Nuggle time!
[Nana chuckles, tense music plays]
NANA: Where's Max?
[Light music plays]
JAY: Uh, she's playing hide-and-seek.
NIKHIL: She's very busy today, Nana.
[Dings, Max meows, boys gasp, tense music plays, Max meows, toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Jay nods as Max walks to Nana, carrying her caterpillar toy, and drops it at Nana’s feet.
NANA: Max, there you are!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
[The music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nana crouches and pets Max. Appa arrives, carrying a mug.
APPA: There you go, Mum.
NANA: Ooh, thank you!
[Max meows, light music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Nana stands and takes the cup, and Max runs across the floor and jumps on the table where Amma sketches.
AMMA: Oh, hello, Max.
[Max purrs, Amma sneezes, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Amma pets Max and Appa walks over.
NANA: That’s it. We've got to get rid right away.
[Max meows, tense music notes play]
NIKHIL AND JAY: Eh...
[Toy squeaks, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay picks up the caterpillar toy.
JAY: Max, come on!
[Toy squeaks, whoosh, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Jay throws the toy into the hallway, and Max chases it.
NIKHIL: Yes, we did it.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist bump.
[The music stops]
APPA: Eh? Did what?
[Upbeat music plays]
NIKHIL AND JAY: Nothing.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay pause by Appa, then leave the room. Amma smiles and shrugs.
NANA: Hm. Something's up with those two. I'll go and check.
[Whoosh]
DESCRIPTION: In their bedroom, Nikhil and Jay sit on the bottom bunk with Max napping between them. Nikhil pets Max’s forehead.
NIKHIL: We can't let Nana take Max away!
[Dramatic music notes play]
NANA: Cooey!
[Boys gasp, door clicks and creaks, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana opens the bedroom door.
NANA: Everything okay, pets?
NIKHIL AND JAY: Uh...
[Slide whistle, suspenseful music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay slide in front of Max.
NANA: Is Max up here with you? I still need my Nana huggle.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at each other.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
[Jay gasps, jumps boing, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay sneaks past Nana, carrying the caterpillar toy.
NANA: Max? Hm.
[Toy squeaks, Max meows, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Jay waves the toy and squeezes it, and Max awakens and smiles. She runs behind Nana to Jay.
NANA: Did I just hear Max?
NIKHIL: No, no, no. That was me.
[Nikhil meows]
NIKHIL: I was calling to Max in cat language.
NANA: Hm.
[Nikhil gasps, tense music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana walks towards the doorway, and Nikhil leaps to his feet.
NIKHIL: Wait, wait, wait!
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil stands in the doorway, blocking Nana.
NIKHIL: Oh, Nana, can I show you my conker collection?
DESCRIPTION: At the window, Nikhil points to conkers and a fruit pit lined up on the sill.
NIKHIL: This is Conker Little.
NANA: Oh!
NIKHIL: This is Conker the Third.
NANA: Wow!
NIKHIL: And this is Conker the Fifth?
NANA: Oh, smashing.
[Dings, toy squeak, Max meows, boings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil looks around Nana and gives Jay a thumbs-up. Jay smiles, gives a thumbs-up, and throws the caterpillar toy. Max chases it into the bathroom, and Jay follows her. In the bedroom, Nikhil gestures at the pit.
NIKHIL: And this one's actually a mango pit.
NANA: Really interesting, Nikhil, but I really should go get my Max nuggle and get rid of your Amma's sneezies.
[The music stops, boing]
DESCRIPTION: Nana leaves, and Nikhil clenches his teeth and reaches for her with his right hand.
NIKHIL: Uh...
[Toy squeaks, Max meows, door clicks]
DESCRIPTION: In the bathroom, Jay kneels on the floor and holds the toy. Max stands on her hind legs and bats at it with her paws. Nikhil arrives and shuts the door behind him.
NIKHIL: Nana is still looking for Max.
[Descending music notes play]
JAY: No, she can't take Max away.
[Chiming, Jay gasps, slide whistles, nostalgic music plays, Max meows, air puffs, slide whistle, Jay gasps, Jay laughs]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Jay and Max ride on a seesaw. Max disappears, and Jay’s side lowers to the ground. On a dance floor, Max and Jay dance beneath a disco ball.
JAY: Yeah!
DESCRIPTION: Max disappears, and Jay stops dancing.
JAY: Hm.
DESCRIPTION: Jay looks at a family photo with Max between him and Nikhil, and Max disappears.
[Jay gasps, chiming, toy squeaks, Max vocalizes]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends. In the bathroom, Jay throws the caterpillar toy and picks Max up.
JAY: It will never work without you, Max. You need to be with us forever, ever, ever.
[Upbeat music plays]
NIKHIL: Then we need to make sure Nana does not see Max.
JAY: Hm. Ooh! I know.
[Max meows, door opens, slams, creaks]
DESCRIPTION: Jay leaves and returns with his magic wand. He pushes the door shut behind him, and it bounces open.
JAY: Zippy zappy ka-bizzle. Make Max invisible.
[Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Jay and Nikhil shut their eyes and wave their hands, and Max escapes through the open door.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Zippy zappy kazipple. Make Max invisible.
[Chiming]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at the floor with wide, shiny eyes.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Whoa!
NIKHIL: We did it!
[Ding]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay high-five.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yes!
JAY: Max, it worked. We can't see you.
NIKHIL: Yay! Let's go!

DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay peek through the dining room doorway and discover Nana cradling Max in her arms.
NANA: Oh, I've got you now. You can't get away.
NIKHIL: Oh no, it didn't work.
[Chiming]
DESCRIPTION: Jay shakes his wand.
JAY: I must have forgotten to charge my wand.
[The music stops, Amma sneezes repeatedly, air whooshes, Amma groans]
DESCRIPTION: In the kitchen, Appa stands with his arm around Amma. She sneezes, and he falls back.
NANA: Right, pet, we just have to do it right now to stop your sneezes.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run into the room and glare at Nana.
NIKHIL AND JAY: No! Nana, we won't let you do it.
NANA: Let me do what?
NIKHIL: Appa, don't do this.
APPA: Huh? Don't do what?
JAY: Don't let Nana take Max away.
AMMA, APPA, AND NANA: Huh?
[Blinks click]
DESCRIPTION: The adults blink in unison, then look at each other.
NANA: Who's taking Max away now?

NIKHIL: Please, Amma. We'll keep Max in our room.
JAY: Please don't send Max away.
NANA: Huh?
[Squeak]
DESCRIPTION: Amma crouches and hugs Nikhil and Jay.
AMMA: Hey, hey, we're not sending Max anywhere.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Mm.
[Amma sneezes]
NIKHIL: But what about your sneezies?
AMMA: Aw, Max is not making me sneeze, chellams.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Eh?
AMMA: I had the sneezes when she was upstairs with you, too.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Oh.
[Amma sniffles]
AMMA: But even if Max did bring on my sneezes, we still wouldn't send her away. She's part of our family.
[Upbeat music plays]
NANA: Oh, I wasn't going to take Max away, pets.
[Nana chuckles]
DESCRIPTION: Nana picks up a mug from the counter.
NANA: I just wanted Amma to drink my special brew to stop her from sneezing.
[Max meows]

APPA AND NANA: Aww.
[The music stops, Amma sneezes, Appa shouts]
DESCRIPTION: Appa hides behind Nana.
NIKHIL: Huh? Appa, you are making Amma sneeze.
APPA: Me? How?
[Amma sniffs Appa, Amma sneezes, zapping, Amma sniffles]
AMMA: Are you wearing that new perfume from the charity shop?
APPA: Oh, yeah. It's called…

DESCRIPTION: Appa poses, waggling his eyebrows as he winks.

AMMA: Oh, it's a Calamity, alright. That's what's making me sneeze.

NANA: Maybe you should send Appa away.

AMMA: Or keep him in your room.

APPA: And talking of great finds, I found some right treasures at the charity shop yesterday.
[Nikhil gasps]
JAY: Treasures?!
[Rustling, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Appa reaches into the bag and takes out a bowl with an illustration of fruit on the side and a pink cake tin.
APPA: Yup. I got this bowl, a new cake tin, and a new perfume called…
DESCRIPTION: Appa takes a perfume bottle out of the bag and poses, waggling his eyebrows as he winks.
APPA, ECHOING: Calamity.
[Amma hums]
DESCRIPTION: Amma draws on the notebook.
APPA: Hm.
[Amma chuckles, the music stops, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Appa leans over the notebook, and Max jumps on the table and rubs against Amma.
[Amma sniffs, tense, music plays, Amma sneezes, Max yowls, slide whistle, boys giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps and lands in Jay’s arms.
APPA: Aw, bless you.
[Parents chuckle]
AMMA: Thanks.
[Max purrs, Amma sniffles, tense music plays, Amma sneezes, Max yowls, meows, Amma sneezes, sniffs]
DESCRIPTION: Max jumps back on the table, and Amma pets her. Amma sneezes, and Max jumps onto the floor beside the boys.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Bless you!
[Upbeat music plays]
NIKHIL: You've got the sneezies, Amma.
JAY: Ginormous sneezies.
AMMA: Don't worry, chellam. Something's just tickling my nose.
APPA: Hmm.
[Tense music plays, Amma sniffles]
DESCRIPTION: Appa and Amma smile at each other, and Max jumps on the table.
APPA: Incoming!
[Boys shout, Amma sneezes, Amma chuckles, the music stops, boys shout, giggle]
DESCRIPTION: Appa lifts his arms, and the boys run away and stop in the hallway.
NIKHIL: Hm, this needs investigating!
DESCRIPTION: Jay smiles broadly and nods.
NIKHIL: Why does Amma have the sneezies?
[Mellow music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Nikhil holds his hand to his chin.
NIKHIL: Hm. Who done it? Oh!
[Slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil picks up a magnifying glass.
NIKHIL: What's the first clue?
[Creak]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil peers at Amma’s mug through the magnifying glass.
NIKHIL: Amma was drinking from the mug. Is it you, mug? Tell me the truth.
[Slide whistles]
DESCRIPTION: The mug turns back and forth, imitating shaking a head “no.”
NIKHIL: Hm.
[Creaking]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil peers at Amma’s notebook through the magnifying glass.
NIKHIL: Amma was writing in a notebook. Is it you, notebook? Did you give Amma the sneezies?
[Whoosh, thud]
DESCRIPTION: The notebook stands and shakes, like a shaking head, then lies flat.
NIKHIL: Then what made Amma sneeze?
[Max meows, Nikhil gasps, Max sniffs, objects sneeze, Nikhil gasps, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: A giant-sized Max approaches and sniffs the mug. The mug and the notebook bounce as they both sneeze. Nikhil’s eyes widen.
NIKHIL: No!
[Chiming]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends and, in the hallway, Nikhil turns to Jay.
NIKHIL: Actually, I know why Amma's got the sneezies. You won't believe this.
JAY: Jaldi, jaldi! Tell me!
NIKHIL: I think it's Max!
[Boys gasp, dramatic music plays, Jay whimpers]
NIKHIL: Every time Max came close, Amma sneezed.
[Jay gasps]
JAY: Oh, dear.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In the dining room, Amma looks at the tablet, with Nana on the screen.
NANA: Oh, don't worry, pet. I know what to do for the sneezies.
[Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Max walks to the tablet.
NANA: Max, coming for a nuggle, are we?
AMMA: Ah, it's just a tickly nose. I'll be fine soon.
NANA: No arguments! I'll be over right away to take care of everything, and Max, you don't go anywhere!
[Nikhil and Jay gasp, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look through the dining room doorway.
NANA: I'm coming for you.
[Jay gasps, tense music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay grabs Nikhil’s left hand with both his hands. Nikhil puts his other hand on Jay’s shoulder.
JAY: Is Nana going to take Max away?
NIKHIL: She wouldn't, would she?
[Doorbell rings, Nikhil and Jay gasp, door clicks, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Appa opens the door, and Nana walks in.
NANA: Cooey!
[Squeak]
DESCRIPTION: Appa hugs Nana.
APPA: Wow, that was, uh, super jaldi, jaldi, mum. Thanks for coming.
NANA: That's alright.
[Ding]
DESCRIPTION: Nana’s eyes widen.
NANA: Ooh! You smell, em, different. Like an old leather sofa, covered in coffee spills.
[The music stops]
APPA: Ah, thanks, Mum. It's called…
[Light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Appa poses, waggling his eyebrows as he winks.
APPA, ECHOING: Calamity.
[Nana sighs, upbeat music plays footsteps tap]
DESCRIPTION: Nana walks towards the dining room, and Appa follows her.
NANA: Right, got a job to do. Nana to the rescue.
[The music stops]
NIKHIL: How did Nana get here so quickly?
JAY: She must have flown on a super-fast lollipop stick.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: In the kitchen, Nikhil and Jay walk to Nana, who stands by a counter. Appa stands behind the counter.
NANA: There you are, my lovelies.
[Squeak]
DESCRIPTION: Nana hugs the boys.
NANA: Nuggle time!
[Nana chuckles, tense music plays]
NANA: Where's Max?
[Light music plays]
JAY: Uh, she's playing hide-and-seek.
NIKHIL: She's very busy today, Nana.
[Dings, Max meows, boys gasp, tense music plays, Max meows, toy squeaks]
DESCRIPTION: Jay nods as Max walks to Nana, carrying her caterpillar toy, and drops it at Nana’s feet.
NANA: Max, there you are!
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
[The music stops]
DESCRIPTION: Nana crouches and pets Max. Appa arrives, carrying a mug.
APPA: There you go, Mum.
NANA: Ooh, thank you!
[Max meows, light music notes play]
DESCRIPTION: Nana stands and takes the cup, and Max runs across the floor and jumps on the table where Amma sketches.
AMMA: Oh, hello, Max.
[Max purrs, Amma sneezes, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Amma pets Max and Appa walks over.
NANA: That’s it. We've got to get rid right away.
[Max meows, tense music notes play]
NIKHIL AND JAY: Eh...
[Toy squeaks, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay picks up the caterpillar toy.
JAY: Max, come on!
[Toy squeaks, whoosh, Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Jay throws the toy into the hallway, and Max chases it.
NIKHIL: Yes, we did it.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay fist bump.
[The music stops]
APPA: Eh? Did what?
[Upbeat music plays]
NIKHIL AND JAY: Nothing.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay pause by Appa, then leave the room. Amma smiles and shrugs.
NANA: Hm. Something's up with those two. I'll go and check.
[Whoosh]
DESCRIPTION: In their bedroom, Nikhil and Jay sit on the bottom bunk with Max napping between them. Nikhil pets Max’s forehead.
NIKHIL: We can't let Nana take Max away!
[Dramatic music notes play]
NANA: Cooey!
[Boys gasp, door clicks and creaks, light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana opens the bedroom door.
NANA: Everything okay, pets?
NIKHIL AND JAY: Uh...
[Slide whistle, suspenseful music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay slide in front of Max.
NANA: Is Max up here with you? I still need my Nana huggle.
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at each other.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Huh?
[Jay gasps, jumps boing, upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Jay sneaks past Nana, carrying the caterpillar toy.
NANA: Max? Hm.
[Toy squeaks, Max meows, slide whistle]
DESCRIPTION: Jay waves the toy and squeezes it, and Max awakens and smiles. She runs behind Nana to Jay.
NANA: Did I just hear Max?
NIKHIL: No, no, no. That was me.
[Nikhil meows]
NIKHIL: I was calling to Max in cat language.
NANA: Hm.
[Nikhil gasps, tense music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nana walks towards the doorway, and Nikhil leaps to his feet.
NIKHIL: Wait, wait, wait!
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil stands in the doorway, blocking Nana.
NIKHIL: Oh, Nana, can I show you my conker collection?
DESCRIPTION: At the window, Nikhil points to conkers and a fruit pit lined up on the sill.
NIKHIL: This is Conker Little.
NANA: Oh!
NIKHIL: This is Conker the Third.
NANA: Wow!
NIKHIL: And this is Conker the Fifth?
NANA: Oh, smashing.
[Dings, toy squeak, Max meows, boings]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil looks around Nana and gives Jay a thumbs-up. Jay smiles, gives a thumbs-up, and throws the caterpillar toy. Max chases it into the bathroom, and Jay follows her. In the bedroom, Nikhil gestures at the pit.
NIKHIL: And this one's actually a mango pit.
NANA: Really interesting, Nikhil, but I really should go get my Max nuggle and get rid of your Amma's sneezies.
[The music stops, boing]
DESCRIPTION: Nana leaves, and Nikhil clenches his teeth and reaches for her with his right hand.
NIKHIL: Uh...
[Toy squeaks, Max meows, door clicks]
DESCRIPTION: In the bathroom, Jay kneels on the floor and holds the toy. Max stands on her hind legs and bats at it with her paws. Nikhil arrives and shuts the door behind him.
NIKHIL: Nana is still looking for Max.
[Descending music notes play]
JAY: No, she can't take Max away.
[Chiming, Jay gasps, slide whistles, nostalgic music plays, Max meows, air puffs, slide whistle, Jay gasps, Jay laughs]
DESCRIPTION: In a daydream, Jay and Max ride on a seesaw. Max disappears, and Jay’s side lowers to the ground. On a dance floor, Max and Jay dance beneath a disco ball.
JAY: Yeah!
DESCRIPTION: Max disappears, and Jay stops dancing.
JAY: Hm.
DESCRIPTION: Jay looks at a family photo with Max between him and Nikhil, and Max disappears.
[Jay gasps, chiming, toy squeaks, Max vocalizes]
DESCRIPTION: The daydream ends. In the bathroom, Jay throws the caterpillar toy and picks Max up.
JAY: It will never work without you, Max. You need to be with us forever, ever, ever.
[Upbeat music plays]
NIKHIL: Then we need to make sure Nana does not see Max.
JAY: Hm. Ooh! I know.
[Max meows, door opens, slams, creaks]
DESCRIPTION: Jay leaves and returns with his magic wand. He pushes the door shut behind him, and it bounces open.
JAY: Zippy zappy ka-bizzle. Make Max invisible.
[Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Jay and Nikhil shut their eyes and wave their hands, and Max escapes through the open door.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Zippy zappy kazipple. Make Max invisible.
[Chiming]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay look at the floor with wide, shiny eyes.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Whoa!
NIKHIL: We did it!
[Ding]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay high-five.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Yes!
JAY: Max, it worked. We can't see you.
NIKHIL: Yay! Let's go!
[Boings, upbeat music plays, Max meows, boys gasp, playful music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay peek through the dining room doorway and discover Nana cradling Max in her arms.
NANA: Oh, I've got you now. You can't get away.
NIKHIL: Oh no, it didn't work.
[Chiming]
DESCRIPTION: Jay shakes his wand.
JAY: I must have forgotten to charge my wand.
[The music stops, Amma sneezes repeatedly, air whooshes, Amma groans]
DESCRIPTION: In the kitchen, Appa stands with his arm around Amma. She sneezes, and he falls back.
NANA: Right, pet, we just have to do it right now to stop your sneezes.
[Upbeat music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay run into the room and glare at Nana.
NIKHIL AND JAY: No! Nana, we won't let you do it.
NANA: Let me do what?
NIKHIL: Appa, don't do this.
APPA: Huh? Don't do what?
JAY: Don't let Nana take Max away.
AMMA, APPA, AND NANA: Huh?
[Blinks click]
DESCRIPTION: The adults blink in unison, then look at each other.
NANA: Who's taking Max away now?
NIKHIL AND JAY: You!
AMMA AND APPA: Huh?
[Soft music plays]
NIKHIL: Please, Amma. We'll keep Max in our room.
JAY: Please don't send Max away.
NANA: Huh?
[Squeak]
DESCRIPTION: Amma crouches and hugs Nikhil and Jay.
AMMA: Hey, hey, we're not sending Max anywhere.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Mm.
[Amma sneezes]
NIKHIL: But what about your sneezies?
AMMA: Aw, Max is not making me sneeze, chellams.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Eh?
AMMA: I had the sneezes when she was upstairs with you, too.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Oh.
[Amma sniffles]
AMMA: But even if Max did bring on my sneezes, we still wouldn't send her away. She's part of our family.
[Upbeat music plays]
NANA: Oh, I wasn't going to take Max away, pets.
[Nana chuckles]
DESCRIPTION: Nana picks up a mug from the counter.
NANA: I just wanted Amma to drink my special brew to stop her from sneezing.
[Max meows]
DESCRIPTION: Max leaps into Amma’s arms.
JAY: Phew!
NIKHIL AND JAY: We love you, Max.
[Amma sniffs Max; Amma, Jay, and Nikhil sigh, hearts pop and chime]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay hug Amma, and pink hearts appear around them. Nana and Appa join the hug.
APPA AND NANA: Aww.
[The music stops, Amma sneezes, Appa shouts]
DESCRIPTION: Appa hides behind Nana.
NIKHIL: Huh? Appa, you are making Amma sneeze.
APPA: Me? How?
[Amma sniffs Appa, Amma sneezes, zapping, Amma sniffles]
AMMA: Are you wearing that new perfume from the charity shop?
APPA: Oh, yeah. It's called…
[Light music plays]
DESCRIPTION: Appa poses, waggling his eyebrows as he winks.
APPA, ECHOING: Calamity.
AMMA: Oh, it's a Calamity, alright. That's what's making me sneeze.
[Appa chuckles, Amma sneezes, Nana chuckles]
NANA: Maybe you should send Appa away.
[Boys gasp, Amma chuckles]
AMMA: Or keep him in your room.
[Nana ohs; boys and Nana giggle; Max meows, upbeat music plays]
JAY: Yay, Max! You'll be with us forever, ever, ever!
[Amma chuckles, squeak]
DESCRIPTION: Amma walks to Appa and pokes his chest.
AMMA: But you won't unless you take a bath and wash away…
DESCRIPTION: Amma poses, then she and Appa waggle their eyebrows at each other.
AMMA: Calamity.
[Amma sneezes]
APPA: Aww, but I don't want a bath.
NIKHIL: Let's go!
[Shouting, upbeat music continues, boys laugh]
DESCRIPTION: Nikhil and Jay push Appa towards the door.
APPA: But-- But I love…
DESCRIPTION: Appa poses, waggling his eyebrows as he winks.
APPA, ECHOING: Calamity.
[Appa sniffs, Appa sneezes, shouts, carrom coins clatter]
DESCRIPTION: Appa sniffs his wrist, and his eyes widen. He falls and knocks over the carrom board.
NIKHIL AND JAY: Ah, calamity!
[Everyone laughs]
DESCRIPTION: Max curls up on Appa’s arm and shuts her eyes.
[Upbeat music plays]
